Ford Sales May 2026 - Down 13.6% Overall

They’ll just run it down the other line. At some point Ford needs to shut or get off the pot. If just one part of the line restricts the type of vehicle an entire plant can produce how can that not be a priority to address? -
Slate Auto Raises $650M as $25K Electric Pickup Nears Launch

I keep thinking these startups should follow the “ghost kitchen” model, but with dealerships. Strike a deal with Stellantis or someone and pickup/drop off service at existing stores (without ever having to bring your Slate to Dodge etc). When Ford had their Rivian stake, and planned on using the R1 platform I’d hoped they’d have done this as well. Rivian would be the only option if I had to replace my Lightning, but the service situation makes me nervous (Same with the R2, which my wife would like to eventually replace her Maverick with). -
I’ve bought my last five cars from the same dealer, serviced my last six there. It’s 20 minutes away, there are a half dozen Ford stores that are closer, including a megalowmart store. I make the drive because their service is outstanding (and sales staff good too). There are literally 20 Ford stores within the same distance as two Tesla service centers. In the Tesla model the store I’ve done business with for over a decade would be no different than the megalowmart store I go out of my way to avoid.

It does not. As I stated Grand Highlander stays ICE/Hybrid. It reduces the risk somewhat.

The Grand Highlander remains ICE/Hybrid. I assume the RX remains ICE. I could see this picking up Tesla buyers who are done with Elon.

The thing is the EREV is a BEV with a gas engine added. It makes no sense to offer only the EREV when the BEV is essentially the same truck, less an engine, and probably a nominally larger battery. I have no idea how Ford can add an engine to the Lightning without either increasing the price, making it even less profitable, or both. My next vehicle will also be a BEV. Hopefully it continues to be a Ford.

Does Ford have a single feature that is NOT available on a Ford branded product? Should they? The problem with “mass market luxury” is in a world of 80k F150 and Expeditions it’s hard to not treat them as luxury. On the flip side it’s hard to justify “bespoke luxury”. If you ignore the EV Gamble I admire what GM is doing with Cadillac. The Escalade IQ is a tour de force. The Ceslestiq is crazy, but they had to have assumed they’d sell tens of them. Lincoln, as it exists, has a Mercury problem.

Weight has little impact on range. I have never gotten less than 110 miles when towing a dual axle enclosed trailer, but yes, if you’re talking round trip it’s 50-60 miles. I LOVE towing with the Lightning. It’s a beast. AWD, heavy but low COG, independent rear, instant torque, no transmission. You forget the trailer is back there.
