Good...Ford needs new blood and this was long overdue. Wonder if he'll have any input into the Sept 14th announcement.

Fields is probably happy.

This will take the pressure off of him. This new guy sticks around for 2 or 3 years and then Fields in the new CEO.

Alan Mullaly is a good choice-did great job with Boeing Commercial Aircraft Division. Seems to be the right fit. Time will tell. (fingers crossed here)

Yep. According to his bio, he's an engineer by training (and not a "business-school" type); something Billy, Fields, Nasser, etc. are not. Keep all fingers and toes crossed!

As long as they don't bring back Nasser anything would be an improvement.

Read "End of the Line" for the inside on how Boeing does business. They specialize on whipsawing entire nations, the carrot being the possibility that Boeing will allow the individual nations a slice of the pie, contracts to build major components for the aircraft they assemble in Washington. Japan builds engines, Boeing gets contracts for sales to JAL. Read the book, what may be good for the market is not necessarily good for UAW workers.

Good point, SJ; Mulally IS a capitalist CEO---just like the rest of 'em. He answers to Wall St. moneychangers, not the company's employees. The old saw, "the more things change, the more they stay the same" will probably apply here, too. We'll stay tuned.

P.S. keep on' cuttin' davdog; it's hilarious! ;)
