soupy
Saw +8.6% I saw that also on CNBC. However....... By Wallace Witkowski F 9FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Ford Motor Co. said Tuesday that November U.S. sales were virtually flat at 123,167 vehicles, compared with 123,222 vehicles sold in the year-ago period. Any idea to explain the difference?
soupy
North American Production Ford plans to build 550,000 vehicles in the first quarter 2010, an increase of 201,000 units (58 percent) compared with the first quarter 2009 Holy Cow! Seems as though Ford might be planning on a return to profitability before 2011?
Ford Jellymoulds
I saw that also on CNBC. Sales were 182,951 in November 2007 maybe the US consumer is still worried about losing their job and won't spend and instead are paying off debt, they are in the UK at the moment more than any other time in history. Most companies are still trying hard to preserve cash & cutout cash burn in any way they can, so new vehicles are probably still off the agenda. Seeing big banks being rewarded with huge bailouts bigtime for failure and paying themselves massive unearned bonus's whilst everybody else loses their job does not build confidence as unemployment keeps rising. When average Joe gets his job back and unemployment falls bigtime so buyers will return to the market. Banks are awash with money nobody wants to borrow. Folk seem to be downsizing from Pick-Ups & SUV's into cars, l hope Ford know what they are doing if they replace the Escape with Kuga those Escape numbers are pretty good for a so called dated vehicle. Volvo had a good month. Edited December 1, 2009 by Ford Jellymoulds
Edstock
Detroit News http://www.detnews.com/article/20091201/AU...oost-production The Dearborn automaker sold 118,536 vehicles in the United States last month, essentially equal to its sales during November of 2008. However, the company said car sales were up 14 percent and crossovers were up 26 percent for the month.

Seems as though Ford might be planning on a return to profitability before 2011? How big is the chance for Ford to get profit this year? When Mullaly came to Ford in 2006, he said that Ford would turn to profit by 2009. No one believed him. Now It could be true even among this economic crisis. ironhorse
Ford trucks are down big because of very short days supply of trucks(especially F150) on dealerships lots..that's the biggest reason imo.

Ford Jellymoulds
:happy feet: GM will be selling 584 (November sales) bland dull and very boring G8's a month that nobody wants that Lutz imposes on buyers. jpd80
GM will be selling 584 (November sales) bland dull and very boring G8's a month that nobody wants that Lutz imposes on buyers. Good to see Bob has still got his finger on the pulse. Holden stopped exports to USA in December 2008, they are remnant sales from a dead brand, Pontiac. I have no doubt that Chevy Commodore and Caprice/Statesman would have sold much better but then again, this is GM we're talking about...... Falcon would have kicked its butt but would have been internal competition to Taurus and split the market. Ford were smarter than GM, they had a plan and stuck to it. aneekr
On an adjusted-for-sales-days-basis, Ford sales during November rose 8.7% Yup, the discrepancy noted earlier is between DSR adjusted and non-adjusted numbers. There were 23 selling days in November 2009 compared to 25 in November 2008.
