Not unless it gets a whole lot roomier and a whole lot less ugly.

While I agree about the ugly thing, I'm not so sure about the whole lot roomier thing, hell the Escort back in 1982 till 1986-87 was the best selling car in the US and that thing has about the same room as a new Fiesta does ;)

I think sales of smaller cars are going to grow and a Focus or C sized car will eventually over take the Camry and Accord sized cars as the top sellers in the next 5 years.

The Escort was the exception to the rule. Historically, midsize/fullsize cars have always been the best sellers in the country. With more attention being paid to fuel economy and with hybrid versions of midsizers becoming more common also, I don't see them surrendering their market very easily.

+2

Unless maybe he's talking about that stupid Prius "brand" type setup that was talked about a while back where there'd be 3 or so "Prius" vehicles.

Even then, not everybody wants an ugly think like that.

The topic has me wondering if Prius at some point will be spun off as a separate brand, as speculated earlier, requiring dealers to invest in another franchise, showroom, etc. Hopefully Ford will learn soon to stop following Toyota's broken operating model.

I doubt they'd do another showroom - Scions are sold in existing Toyota dealers, or at least all the ones I've seen are.
