Most Chevy Camaros reportedly being sold with V8 power

I agree with this comment:

I think this is actually a bad sign for the Camaro. To me it indicates that the car hasn't broadened its appeal enough to go mainstream with those people who are non-enthusiasts.

Believe me, as an enthusiast, I wouldn't mind if the Camaro becomes a more esoteric, enthusiast-only vehicle...but from a bean counter standpoint, maybe it's a bad sign.

They did? I've read several accounts that the V6 model outsold the V8 2:1...

Early on in 05 the V8 outsold the v6, just as in 05 the HEMI 300's were outselling the V6, and in '03 the Stick shift mazda6 were making up a very large % of sales compared to where projections were. Everything fell back in line after a year. The same will happen with the Camaro.

The Camaro has huge pent up demand, if Ford didn't sell a Mustang for years it would have the same results, look at the Thunderbird when it was relaunched. The dealers killed it as they thought they should get 10,000+ over sticker for it. Word got out that they were doing that and demand dried up -- Greedy dealers are what killed the Thunderbird, though all dealers seem to have learned from that huge mistake, they went back after they couldn't sell them at that markup and the people that were going to buy them told them to piss off or had purchased another car and people had heard of the over charges and never walked into a Ford dealer.

wrong....9/11 killed the T-bird.....planes flying into buildings can make people re-evaluate...especially when their stocks TANK...was NOTHING to do with markups and dealers........ :finger:

:headscratch:

Face it, the last T-bird was a misfire.

all of ours were presold...car was released AFTER 9/11....every single deposit was withdrawn...people freaked...understandably so....talk about BAD timing...and now people are clamouring over used T-birds. I did question Ford releasing a "personal" toy though, purely a two seater....but i did sell a couple to people that initially came in for Mustangs....they just drove as a more refined vehicle....

Still doesn't take away from the fact that the car was crappy...it had all sorts of issues with it....

Exactly. It was a poorly executed vehicle. I don't know anybody who had owned one who was happy with it and actually still owns it. Its sales would have floundered regardless. It might have done slightly better its first year, but that's about it.

If I was loaded with money to burn, I'd still go find myself a 007 Edition just for the sake of owning one.

Agent 1011? lol....ill conceived car to begin with,. who were they actually attempting to appeal to?....and you KNOW theres issues when every iteration is a LIMITED edition....that SCREAMS fail, and "how do we get rid of all these chassis? HEY...how bout another limited production....

I was looking at used TBirds on ebay just a few days ago... $14-17k can get you a pretty good one. The reliability is a problem, but the car still looks gorgeous. I'll take mine in Torch Red with the red interior PKG and white hardtop.

They sold quickly, at least the ones around here. I see 2 of the coral 007 ones a few times a week, at least when the weather's nice. I also see one of the Pacific Roadster editions pretty frequently... love that smokey blue paint.

Probably don't see too many in for service because 1) not many were sold in the first place and 2) most of them are likely low milage 2nd or 3rd vehicles. Doubt there are a whole lot of those T-birds running around with 150,000+ miles on them.
