ausrutherford
Ford Motor Company and noted rally masters M-Sport have pulled the veil off their latest collaborative rally machine, the Fiesta S2000. It's their first global rally car, and as such will be able to compete in a whole bevy of international competitions ranging from IRC to the S2000 World Cup to Aatos and Aamu's Finnish Tree Bash. Long story short, going by past history alone, this should be one bruiser of a successful rally car. Right, so let's talk stats. The Fiesta S2000 comes with a naturally aspirated 1998cc I4 Duratec S2000 engine good for 280 horsepower and 192 lb-ft of twisting torque all the while spinning to an 8,000 rpm redline. That mill gets mated to a permanent all-wheel drive system hooked up to a sequential manual transmission with an AP clutch. Sizable Brembos are at all four corners (and like the wheels, vary in size depending on asphalt or gravel). Ready for the best part? It weighs just 2,640 pounds – and that's with the roll cage. And get this – the Fiesta S2000 is "due for homologation in January 2010." Ford Jellymoulds
What is the name of the other fiesta rally car? I believe the one i am thinking of has much much more power though..... 800 BHP rallycross car. http://blogs.timeslive.co.za/wheeldeal/200...eak-hill-climb/ This Fiesta is only a stop gap until 2011 when the WRC AWD Fiesta arrives that will take over from the Focus RS in WRC, which with its new rules and regulations will make it more closer to standard production cars which will mean Ford will be probably using a 1600cc AWD WRC Fiesta which the regulations will require. Come 2011 WRC is going to become one hell of a lot more exciting to watch with a lot more car makers talking about coming back to WRC, new rules are being written to help cut the cost of completing and making it more exciting with more teams. Ford Jellymoulds
JELLY It was Flipper that rules OK, it is so funny to see people borrow that phasing from one the best and noisiest 1st generation hardcore punk bands. As I have seen on a shirt recently, Flipper still rules OK LOL You know its getting serious once you start seeing Old Skool stickers on windscreens I noticed "Old Skool Fords" South London website was getting more hits than BON when they used to show who was online looking in on BON. This is getting serious - Stickers Lets hope we get a New Skool Kool AWD Fiesta RS like the real Mccoy that Ford use in the world of rallying in the future l will be first in a very long queue that will want one, Ford have never had a FWD rally car if they did it would not win bugger all, Mini in 1965 was the last FWD car to win the RAC. LINK Fords new Fiesta S2000 will be used in IRC which nobody in Europe is really interested in other than the French its a low profile Micky Mouse Rally that the Peugeot 207 keeps winning. WRC is the competition most folk watch & want to win in Europe gotta say l am looking forwards to seeing the Fiesta taking over from the Focus in 2011 as it gets downsized to 1600cc using standard turbo charged engines you are more likely to find in your bog standard production cars this could be a chance for Ecoboost to shine on the world WRC stage.
