Pioneer
Toyota was the only automaker among the six biggest in the United States that didn't have a winner. Before this year, Toyota, the world's top-producing automaker, had top safety picks in every year but 2007. Ford Jellymoulds
Toyota's not only go out of control, they don't offer the best protection in a crash. Edited November 18, 2009 by Ford Jellymoulds
Cocheese
Have they fallen off, or have people finally started to actually test them and report what the findings were? I've seen enough accidents in my life, and I have never thought Toyota's were safe.
DC Car Examiner
What has changed is that the IIHS now includes a roof crush test in its criteria for the Top Safety Pick award. It has so far tested only small SUVs, subcompact cars, and midsize sedans by class -- any other car that wanted to get the award had to donate a test vehicle to the IIHS. Toyota didn't give the IIHS 11 cars (its winners last year) for the new tests, so didn't win. That's certainly not to say that those cars would have aced the test if they had been tested, of course. Probably many would not. But it's just an unknown until the IIHS works its way through more market classes.

ANTAUS
Also keep in mind, the Camry for an example, it's platform dates back to 1992...back then, there was very minimal roof standards required for vehicles. All they can do is add higher tensile steel if they wish to continue to recycle their platform. Nip tuck, Nip tuck can only last so many years... Ford Jellymoulds
Thank God we don't have any of those dangerous runaway Camrys in Europe anymore. Edited November 19, 2009 by Ford Jellymoulds
