Ford Jellymoulds
GM are on the mend Fritz knows what he is doing don't worry, GM have cut 20,000 jobs closed, closed 14 plants, 2300 dealers down Stateside, Lutz is back, GMs taken over eBay website by storm, and they still can't make a profit on the good side of GM that has come out of bankruptcy. Not another boring looking car from GM that looks the same that nobody will want or buy just like the G8 that enjoyed 750 sales last month. GM need to stop emulating Toyota its a failed plan, and be American again & start building exciting shaped cars again that excite rather than bore you to death/sleep. GM's U.S. workforce has fallen from a high of 620,000 in 1979 (About the time "Tony" boring Toyota designs arrived on the drawing boards) to about 120,000 now, how many car jobs will GM have left Stateside by 2020, when the only tools left in Fritz toolbox hack jobs, close plants & dealers put out the same boring $h!t helped them to $50 billion $$$ losses. Why not try a new concept make cars folk want to buy for a change not boring Toyota emulations that suck, and start to build cars that excite full of good ole American rock n' roll. I would not buy/want a boring bland dull Holden Chevy SS not in a million years l would not pay 1 buck for this boring $h!t, but would consider a GM if they started to make something exciting again in Europe. One thing thats letting GM ever shrinking workforce down is the PRODUCT. Korean made Chevy Europe cars are boring dull boring and souless send you to sleep, much of the same from GM with the Chevy SSsssssssssssss :boring: . 156n3rd
Talk talk talk. GM cannot walk the walk. Chevy has some very ugly cars, their entry-level make. How will they follow up the Malibu, it can't last forever. The Aveo is total shit. The Cobalt is too. The Impala is an AARP member, the Corvette is out of this world in price. Not mentioning trucks, that another subject. So they can go ahead and badge engineer till doomsday. I still ask, who cares?
jpd80
And this is why GM will continue to suffer derision and ridicule. The ability to create a proper product plan and stick to it has cost them and US taxpayers a lot of money. Cancelling and uncancelling Zeta RWD products whilst volume FWD/AWD products like Malibu and Impala, languished is probably a major contributor to GM's woes. Whole devisions like Buick, Pontiac and Saturn bereft of real identity and outstanding products. GM's basic lack of understanding towards its customer base is astonishing. timmm55
Truth is, it is too good to waste. GM may have to spread the costs around (SS and Police duty versions) to make it profitable. Something they have to worry about now. If GM can make it work there's a better chance of a Falcon coming here!

Something they have to worry about now. If GM can make it work there's a better chance of a Falcon coming here! FoA is working on 2.0 Ecoboost in Falcon, the cars reportedly keep up with their bigger 4.0 I-6 brothers yet give amazing fuel consumption figures. This is FoA's plan to re enter the fleet business in Australia and as a side note, Derrick Kuzak had a big part in making this happen - maybe this was an alternate LEV? I just can't see the sense in GM gutting out a luxury vehicle to make a police car and claiming it helps them in the market place in any shape or form - the whole idea is crazy. RichardJensen
http://www.detnews.com/article/20091117/OP...911170345/1148/ Dear Mr. Howes: There is a huge difference between constructive disagreement and having three people who speak to the press continually and can't agree on anything beyond the name of the company. 10:1 Whitacre wants Fritz out and Lutz in. jpd80
"My dealer had sent off pictures to GM of the cable portion of the front seats belts rubbing against the plastic on the side of the front seats. In an email sent back to the dealer, GM says that they have no plans to solve what has already been built but going forward a correction is planned. The email continues: ...a fix is planned for MY11.5 Chevy Police Program and MY12 Chevy SS. The fix will involve a protective sleeve that covers the buckle and section of the buckle stem that rubs on the plastic trim." This sounds very much like a story I saw posted on a GM website a couple months ago except the car with the fix was the MY11 Pontiac G8 which was cancelled. The two stories bear striking resemblance, does anyone else remember seeing the above? Edited November 18, 2009 by jpd80
J-150
love the comments by the GM fanboys. "bring it, bring it" the GTO and G8 didnt sell. A Chevy Holden will not sell. A Falcon will not sell. Lutz has been trying for a few years now and still nothing. Give it up. These cars will just not sell in enough numbers to make it worth importing. 630land
The 'bring it' boys do not pay for the cars they demand, they expect "the other guys to take the depreciation" since "I cant afford it" or "I'll wait till used ones are cheap". And 'other guys' see GM cars as having poor resale, so they don't buy. The one who did buy G8's got them at huge losses, so how can the fanatics expect 'muscle sedans' to suceed? When G8 and GTO sticker prices were first announced, there was a loud "OMG, i cant pay that". Too many gearheads assume that a new car should cost $13,000-17,000, but that was 20 years ago for the 1990 Mustang 5.0!

A Falcon will not sell. Lutz has been trying for a few years now and still nothing. Give it up. These cars will just not sell in enough numbers to make it worth importing. There's a funny back story to all of this. All of this with the Zeta imports is not about selling bulk cars in the US, it's about production in Australia and securing viability of the plant there, something we thought was achieved with local manufacture of the Holden Cruze small car starting next year. Seems like another GM viability plan was actually underwater... A second shift at Adelaide bolsters production of the Australian Zeta production line. None of this with the Caprice Police car would have seen the light of day if former Holden CEO Mark Reuss hadn't been elevated to Global Products Manager, he has been championing Holden cause behind closed doors. GM does not understand the market they are trying to fill. Think about it, V6 and V8 G8 Pontiacs ranged from US$25K to US$30K and the Aussie Donor vehicles sell in their home land for for US$36K and US$40K respectively, that business case is very shaky indeed. For years Ford has been reviewing the possible export of Falcons to the USA, it has been reviewed at least three times in the past five years but every time, there is no sound business case for it. Those who have followed this story know that the Taurus and Falcon occupy much the same market space. Sadly, the importation of the Falcon would add more internal competition than revenue, a situation GM seems to be oblivious to with the Zeta and the coming Epsillon II Impala.
