BCN Or HAP

Anybody on the board ever had both health care plans? I've got BCN right now but, my wife and I were thinking about switching to HAP. From what I've read, coverage from both is nearly identical but, it appears that HAP might be rated a little higher than BCN. So, anybody had both and, if so, which did you think was better. Appreciate any comments you can give. Thanks.

I had BCN in the past and currently have HAP. They both have about the same coverage from what I have experienced. I think the biggest issue is not so much which company but rather the doctor you choose. If you are not happy with your doctor ask around to family, friends, neighbors to find a good doctor in your area. Once you think you have found a doctor that you will be happy with then find out which insurances they accept. I was really unhappy with my doctor so I asked around and found a really great one then switched my insurance to one that he accepted.

I had HAP and BCN some time ago, I hated BCN I found HAP to be better but it's a matter of personal choice.

HAP is pretty good, but more doctors (mostly specialists) are dropping HAP acceptance. If your doctor accepts HAP, but most of the doctors they refer aren't anymore, then it does make it harder to see the specialists you want. Good luck.

I had the same problem w/ BCN - Don't know about other areas, but more and more Flint-area doctors are not accepting NEW patients with BCN - if you're ALREADY a patient and switch to BCN you're good, but to find a new doctor that accepts it is virtually impossible anymore. That wasn't the case 7-8 years ago, but it's becoming a real problem.
