How Much Oil Is There Really?

"The world is much closer to running out of oil than official estimates admit, according to a whistleblower at the International Energy Agency who claims it has been deliberately underplaying a looming shortage for fear of triggering panic buying.

The senior official claims the US has played an influential role in encouraging the watchdog to underplay the rate of decline from existing oil fields while overplaying the chances of finding new reserves.

A report by the UK Energy Research Council (UKERC) last month said worldwide production of conventionally extracted oil could "peak" and go into terminal decline before 2020 – but that the government was not facing up to the risk.

Steve Sorrell, chief author of the report, said forecasts suggesting oil production will not peak before 2030 were "at best optimistic and at worst implausible". "

The world will have to find four Saudi Arabias by 2030 if it wants to maintain its oil consumption habit, says the International Energy Agency's chief economist, Dr Fatih Birol." -Link

Oh noes!!! Run for the hills!!! World War 3 is upon us!! :runaway:

We have back up plans to help prevent WWIII. Here is a clip from one of the exercise. Quick and independent reaction for the chain of command is the objective when a senior officer is removed from the exercises.

As you will see, the Army tries to make things difficult but the USAF worked through the obstacles and confusion.

The USAF was given an "Outstanding rating", however, Coke Cola was not happy.

We will run out of our ability to produce oil fast enough to keep the world running long before we run out of oil. The world needs more oil every year, and it takes more energy to get that oil every year. At some point, we will fall short, and everything will shut down. Maybe some countries will be cut out of the loop through nuclear war so others can hang on longer. The first shortages will be at the gas pumps, as the government and military will have top priority. Gas will be rationed and car pooling will be mandatory. Soon, non-essential factories will be shut down. The unemployed will riot. Consuming will evaporate, closing retail businesses. It will become impossible to provide a flow of food to the millions of city dwellers. People will be rounded up and placed in concentration camps to reduce the chaos. It will be worse than Africa, because they have learned to live under these conditions. We are not equipped physically or mentally. It will be hell on earth.

Sounds like the less government and total anarchy you seem to think would make Canada a better place...

I enjoyed the freedom I had when I was a kid in small town Nova Scotia. The cops were good cops. They were not seen and not heard. People handled their own problems. Nobody went crying to the cops if they got a punch in the mouth. Instead, they became more polite and respectful. What we have now is maximum crime. Criminals don't fear any reckoning from the offended party or his family. They only have to fear the slim chance that the law will get them, and their lawyer will not get them off, and the judge will do more than slap them on the wrist. The law needs these guys for its livelihood, so they can't discourage them. The taxpayers have lots of money to pay for it, and they are all brainwashed to believe that they need it.

Peak oil has nothing to do with government, except that I doubt that the Aboriginals would be worried about it now if the White Man had stayed on his own side of the pond. Probably, if the free market would have been allowed to operate, instead of the government sticking its nose in, the problem would have been headed off. I guess that government really is to blame. They are in control, so they are to blame for everything.
