suv_guy_19
The federal long-gun registry moved one step closer to being abolished as MPs voted Wednesday in the House of Commons to scrap the controversial program. With support from 18 Liberals and New Democrats, the private member's bill passed second reading 164-137, and now goes to committee. If passed, Bill C-391 would scrap the decade-old registry and destroy existing data within the system on about seven million shotguns and rifles. The legislation was proposed by Manitoba Tory backbencher Candice Hoeppner. suv_guy_19
Hopefully so. I used to think it was a good idea, but I certainly don't think so now. Strong licensing is good...registration is near useless.
Trimdingman
Hopefully so. I used to think it was a good idea, but I certainly don't think so now. Strong licensing is good...registration is near useless. Criminals don't register or license their guns, so they still have an advantage. I would level the playing field. The law industry is in favor of more stringent controls on the law abiding, which by default makes it better for the criminal, and also by default, better for the law industry. The law industry includes police, lawyers, judges, prison staff; the list is endless. It is the taxpayer who has to pay through the nose for a system that leaves him vulnerable.
