AAI Needs All UAW Member Support

I am from Local 3000. Many of us now at AAI are original Mazda and the rest from closed plants like STAP and Wixom. We have heard the horror stories of closed plants with divorces, broken families, home relocation etc.. We almost went to 1 shift in May and we dont need to lose any more of us. We need these investments in our plants for our security.

 

We are in trouble here. Ford no longer has controlling interest in Mazda. Mazdas direction is pulling the Mazda 6 out of AAI. We hardly run any now.We could lose the Mustang to any other facility. Back in 2004 we stole the Mustang from dearborn and it only took 4 months for the transition. Im sure they can do the same again. I beg my Brothers and Sisters to vote yes on this modification. We need solidarity to keep AAI open.

Don't worry about the vote. If there is plans to move you, they are already in place. The company does what it wants. These promises are just to get what they want. See what happens down the road.

Also, if the Mustang were to be pulled, where could it be built? Wixom's gone, convertering Wayne to RWD production will cost tens of millions of dollars.

 

Remember the other concessionary votes. Ratify the agreement on Friday, plant closing announcements on Monday.

They did not steal the Mustange that move was planned with the blessing of UAW with a brand new plant and trees on the roof

Ford wanted its premium seller in Dearborn The F-150 was moved there which led to the closing of F-150 plant in Canada and Norfolk Assembly Plant

If I remember correctly Canada got a mini van and transfered there F-150 workers to that plant and people from Norfolk was sent to KCAP and DTP

If you really want to worry look at your plant location can it be expanded does the company own land around or near the plant does it have major interstate highways

and rail systems and airports that handle commercial business close by

Google the plants that are expanding and see for yourself KY IL MO MI OH all have access to these major arteries from mexico to canada ? transportation cost is lower they

keep parts moving at a just in time basis rather than keeping huge stock piles so assembly plants can run

The people that really need to worry are the ones working at visteon johnson controls and lear

At 14 dollars an hour they can put Seat IP production back in the Assembly Plants and with the entry level wage and benefits Ford saves alot of money

If they insource everything back into the Assembly plants alot of suppliers and there workers lose but its easier to control if the parts are assembled on site with flex

manufacturing the assembly lines are less likely to shut down do to supplier problems

Just My Thoughts

 

Mustang moved because the old DAP was old period. The old DAP had water coming in from all areas of the building. It needed to go and a brand new facility was built on nearby grounds. Mustang was still moving down the line at the old DAP while the new line was rolling off Mustangs at AAI. Some people followed, some people did not. All employees that went with the Mustang were asked if they wanted to RTBU also. Some did go back to Dearborn. Flat Rock has plenty of room to expand. In fact they have there own supplier base building right across the street with people working for half the wages. I would not count that building out yet at least I hope not. The towns that some of the plants are in really need that tax base to continue being a viable city. Flat Rock consists of a population under 10,000 people and hopefully it will stay in place for the people who work there and live nearby.

How can u say we hardly run any Mazdas? You sure your at AAI? It's nearly a 50-50 mix as of late. "The plant will close if we vote no", give me a break. You also should check to see "original Mazdas". There is probably 5, that's five people, on the first six lines in trim on nights. Check yourself please.

People who want to vote down this contract should not get discouraged by the Yes votes announced yesterday from Ohio and Wayne. The UAW always schedules votes first at the plants where they think they can get a Yes vote. They schedule votes last at plants where they think there will be a No vote, like at Dearborn Truck.

Local 1250 from Brook Park, Ohio consists of 3 small plants, all 3 of them together have only half as many workers as are in Dearborn Truck alone. And they were one of them few places that received any real new product. No surprise they voted Yes.

At Local 900, Wayne Stamping actually voted No, while Wayne Assembly and Michigan Assembly voted Yes. For the whole local the total vote was 925 Yes-to-898 No. That is a Yes vote of less than 51%. Last March, Local 900 voted Yes by 78%. So I take this vote as a good sign. I think there is a very good chance we can vote down this contract, when all is said and done.

If we don't get another car to build in the next 2 years, then we are in BIG trouble. Mazda has wanted to pull out for a long time, and sales are horrible. They planned for 100-120k sold per year, and we're doing half of that. As far as the Mustang leaving, upper management HAVE been openly talking to each other about the Mustang leaving after the 2012 model. We can't count on average Mustang sales over 150k anymore, 100k may not be possible. It could end up being a specialty car, and not have enough production to justify a 50/50 mix. If that happens and Mazda leaves, we will be a vacant plant. I don't want to have to go to another plant again, but it's a real possibility. Our jobs are no longer secure, and we need to prepare for more cuts and less money. The company WILL keep trying to screw us over, and we won't have any power if we give up our right to strike. There is a strong possibility we could go to 1 shift early next year. We barely avoided it earlier this year. If we're lucky they will do week on/week off for awhile, but if sales don't come back, they will have a hard choice to make about our future. Hi lo feva 2, there are still more originals from 87 and 88 than there are transfers in the plant. Very few work in Trim, and even less work there on B shift. Some B shift trim units are now 75% temp loan ins, covering for the Saline transfers until (and if) they return. I really hope things work out for us, but I expect things to get worse and I'm prepared for even rougher times ahead.

A matter a fact, there are over 3/4 of this membership that have never been on a strike and don't know understand what a strike means....lets stand strong, lets stand together against our bargaining agent who doesn't understand the business. Brilliant. How fking smart is that. Company loves this shit! Do you realize what happens if Mazda decides to pull out of AAI? Your product can be put into another facility that is under utilized. I am sure Wayne assembly can run your shit tomorrow. I bet KCAP can run your shit tomorrow. We better wake the fk up people! Hope everyone who got their kids in Ford still have their old bedrooms, because they will need them pretty soon! You don't think so, just ask a GM or Chrysler worker. Asks some of those on the street right now eating up their TAP. Can you pay your wages on 50%. They also have identified work for these facilities which may keep them at those facilities for awhile. Guess what happens if this thing tanks. Hey Captain Dick Head, The GM and Chrysler folks took the concessions to save there jobs and less then a few weeks the two went bankrupt leaving them with pre bankruptcy contracts. Fuck you Pal.
