plowing with 20s

I have a 07 f250 harley edition.. Love the truck, have almost 53,000 miles on it with the only issue being one bad injector at 32,000 miles.

I have been searching and searching to find out if I can plow with the factory 20" rims. I have heard that I can't because of the payload. I checked with my local dealership and didnt get any straight answers. I am out of warranty so I dont care about that. I just want to make sure I am safe and won't have tire/rim issues.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Once you get the plow on, weigh the truck (three weights - both axles on scale, front axle on scale, rear axle on scale).

Check axle weights against the weight capacities of the tires. 20 inchers usually have lower weight capacities, so be carefull. Also, if you have a heavy plow, you may need to ballast the rear to get decent traction. Traction-wise, the 20 inchers may not be the best for plowing.

Thanks for the reply.. we dont have scales anywhere in my area. I did check the tire manufacturers website and the tires are an E rating, max load 3750lbs per tire.

I checked the specs on the factory 18" tire option, 275/70-18, also E rating, max load is 3640lbs so it would seem there are no issues with weight since the 20s have a higher max load rating

As long as they're factory wheels, I would think they would be rated for at least what the axle and springs are rated for, other wise ford could get themselves into trouble. So as long as your not over loading the front axle as per factory specs, I would think the wheels/tires would be fine.

I see no reason why you can't. I ordered my truck with the 20" wheel and tire package as well as the plow package. If Ford didn't want you to plow with 20's they wouldn't allow this configuration. Just like they wouldn't let me order the camper package with 20's. I plow with a Fisher SS ExtremeV 8.5 with no ballast and no traction problems. You will be fine...
