My Taurus SHO test drive Boy was it fun

When I pulled up to the dealership, I saw a 2010 Taurus SHO in Tuxedo Black. I heard about how good they were and the manager that I worked with to purchase my 2010 Explorer. I suggested to him that it would be nice to see what it is all about and he threw the "key" to me and told my salesman to put a dealer tag because I wanted to take it for a drive.
Well I jumped at the chance and boy was it fun. I took it out and put my foot into it and I didn't feel any turbo lag. I just felt the torque in my lower back, which I loved. It had the select shift six speed automatic. The paddle shifter were on the steering wheel and they were in an excellent place. This car is fun to drive and it has some get up and go. I took it on my trip and this car is sick. This car is free enough that sixty to seventy miles per hour is nothing for this car. I found myself driving it rather fast and hard. I look at this car this way, this car is one that wants to be driving hard and fast. It is a very good to get tickets in. This car just wants to go and the throttle is so light that this car can easily get away on the speed.
There were a few things that I found as drawback on the car. The first thing is that the bottom of the window on the door is too high for me. I like to put my arm out the window on a nice day. The cup holders are in a kind of a bad position because it kind of interferes with the automatic transmission shifter. Also the way that the DVD display and the other control kind of roll towards the windshield and was a bit of stretch for me. Also the view out the rear window wasn't that great, but I guess this car is designed to go forward and not worry about who is behind you.
This car had a good handling, but at the same time I could probably drive it all day.
I really liked the Ecoboost V6. It has a lot of power and is very free revering. This engine, I believe will be able to handle what is thrown at it. I still like my V8 engines, because I'm old school, but after driving the engine in the SHO, I think Ford has a winner. I think it will be great in the new Explorer and in fact, I think it would work pretty good in my current 4600lbs Explorer. So if they want to put it in other cars, I think it will do wonders.
I still like V8 and bigger cylinder engines and in certain cars they should have V8, but after driving the EcoBoost 3.5 twin turbo, my view has changed. This is a engine that can make a lot of cars into sports sedans. If the I-4 version of this is as good as what I drove today, then it will be a fun engine to have. The next big question is the durability of the engine.
So if you get a chance take this car out for a spin. If you want to buy it go ahead. I don't think you will be disappointed, but be forewarned that this car could be a ticket magnet, or you will need to use the cruise control a lot more. One final thing is that downshift this one gear and you can feel the power right there and it's ready to go.

I'm not making it hard for you to wait. I had to wait 8 weeks for my new Explorer and than and then another 4 weeks for the splash guards and so forth. So I was in the same boat. However, when you get it, you will enjoy it.
Take care

I'm on the magnitude of years as far as when I'll be able to get into one of these. :(

Hey don't feel too bad, I'm looking at 2013 or so before I can get one, just look at this way...just gives Ford more time to make it better and improve on the looks on it. Not to mention get all the bugs worked out of it. ;)

Yeah, that's what I have to keep telling myself.
Maybe by the time I can get one, Ford will have some dual-clutch technology going on... :D

I'm not quite sure why everyone says this. I believe engineering these days isn't like engineering of yesteryear. More often than not, people say this about first year vehicles and honestly, I'm not sure why. Lots of vehicles from many manufacturers come out first year and don't have any issues at all. I bought the first year redesigned Mustang in '05 and honestly there hasn't been any real stand outs as far as issues. Matter of fact, some of the minor bugs that do exist weren't fixed in more recent years which is weird. As long as you're buying a vehicle from a respectible manufacturer, I don't think this applies any longer.

I had a bad experience with a 02 SVT Focus I had....first year production and well Ford keeps improving cars every year they are out also, so that could be ironing out bugs also.
