tsturbo
Hey all, Sorry if this has been covered before, tried the search and mods had it turned off. I used to have a 2006 Escape with the V6 which had plenty of pep. I have a 2010 4 cylinder on order and have heard the '09+ 4 cylinders are pretty peppy, I have driven the 2008 4 cylinder, but understand they have added a fair amount of HP & Torque to the 2009+. Thanks

Thanks We own a 09 with the 4 cylinder and it has a lot of power. This I think is due to the six speed automatic. The engine is a little noisy when you get on the gas but will get up and go. This is my wife's car so the first time I drove it on a multy lane highway and needed to get in fast I was amazed with the power. I actually had to back off on the throttle. In my opinion you will love it. 09escape
GopherM
I have been driving my 09 I4 for a year now and it is fantastic. I have driven it from Maryland to Jacksonville and a separate trip to Atlanta. It has made frequent trips to Virginia Beach and I never have any problems merging on the interstate or passing on two lane roads. The gas milage is much better than I expected. Most of my commute is on a 4 lane road with several traffic lights between my home and office and I average around 27.3 MPG in semi in-town driving and have gotten over 34 MPG on the highway if I stick to the 55 MPH roadways. On the interstate crusing at 75+ MPH it will get btwn 29-30 MPG. I took a test drive in a 2008 I4 and they are not the same engine. This thing is peppy with impressive accelleration and torque. As 09escape above says, if I am leaving a rest stop on the interstate and nail the accelerator in the merge lane I find myself having to back off the gas pedal by the time I get to the highway so that I am not overtaking the traffic. kanielb1
I drive a V8 Tundra and I was impressed with the pep the 4 banger in my wife's Mariner has. Got it out on the Interstate and was doing 80 with ease. I have been very impressed.
