Anyone Taken Delivery Of A 2010 Escape?

My interest is mainly regarding the 2010 FEH/MMH but anything regarding the 2010 Escape/Mariner is welcome in this thread. Had my eye on getting the FFH but if I can confirm an electric A/C compressor on the 2010 FEH, I'm going with that for my wife. I'd like to know if any dealerships are getting these in and what the changes are from the '09 models.

Thanks

You'd keep your '09 FEH, I assume?

Having a electric AC compressor is a good point? So the 09 FEH starts the ICE for AC to cool you and/or the HVBP now? The electric AC would draw from the HVBP and that's better, why?

Hi Bill

In order to run the A/C all the time the FEH is not a hybrid because the engine must run all the time for that. To run the A/C all the time the Atkinson cycle engine is a under powered I-4L that will drink as much gas than a standard 2.5L engine. My '09 FEH is excellent for my driving needs but my wife will run the A/C even when it's cold here in Florida. I have to choose for her needs!

I tried to search for an answer to your AC question but couldn't find anything. One thing I noticed for the 2010 FEH was EPA MPG was 5MPG less for the 4WD! I think that's more of a difference than on a FE.

I did stumble upon something I didn't know though! You may have heard of the site Fleet Ford where you can view/download owner's manuals? There is a TSB tab which brought up a corporate ID/password input page. I'm a Ford retiree and it looked similar to the ID/password page for XYZ plans. I plugged in my ID/password, got in and I able to search for TSB's. I also type in my VIN for my '09 FE which brought up a page with the vehicle info with my name, warranty data, purchase date, warranty work if any and one particular TSB.

You can view TSB's by make/model but the TSB's for a '09 FE were the same as a '09 FEH which is impossible of course! I'll have to play with it a bit more.

In another forum some were having a problem with a white powder coming out of the air ducts on the '09 FE. I found the TSB on that and posted it!

EDIT:

So much for the backdoor entry! I'm unable to do that again. I'll have to try again late in the evening like I originally did.

I've been at my local dealership and the 2010 FEH is not there yet. I did find another article today where the question was ask does the 2010 FEH have an electric A/C compressor. I'm in luck because they ask Ford directly:

"As of the 2010 model year, Ford has switched the Escape Hybrid from a belt-driven air conditioning compressor to an electric unit. So, you'll be able to run with AC on and the gasoline engine off."

http://www.greencarreports.com/blog/102202...-weather-friend

Now I just need to find a 2010 FWD FEH Limited W/nav for my wife in a color she likes!

good news!

i don't know if you/your wife find the rear tailgate hard to open but ford put a cubby hole in the bottom of the door on the 2010 escapes to make opening the door easier. (similar to the change on the edge from 07 to 08)

The '09 FEH has the rear window pop open and raises just by pushing the button or Key which is much better than my '05 FEH which is totally manual. The tailgate is electric on the '09 FEH also, but you have to lift it up where the button is. The dealership I went to had 3 2010 gas Escapes but I didn't look for that change.

Gary,

I have a '10 FEH LTD 4WD, which has been built and is supposed to be at my dealer this week (I was hoping it would arrive yesterday). I'll let you know what I can about the a/c.

Great! I'm sure a lot of us will be interested in the '10 FEH changes. The A/C, 44mph EV, HV battery performance (EV distance), EV acceleration with the new 330V (20% more power) and the new back-up camera to mention a few things. Keep us posted!

Stopped buy my local Ford dealer last night and they have four 2010 Escape Limited 4wd on the lot. I looked at the new cubbyhole that they put at the center lower edge of the door and it looks like an inserted painted metal box that has the hatch release button in the top of it. Now looking at where the release button was on the 2009 Escape, they now have the reverse video camera installed. Just a guess but I would think that ford made the change to accommodate the new video camera. Personally I like the smooth lines of the 2009 hatch over the inserted box look of the 2010. Also the new Escape gets one less mile to the gallon on the highway at 23 mpg from last year of 24mpg. Maybe do to the E85 change?

Gary, maybe this will help answer some questions before mine arrives:

Download 2010 FEH owner guide:

http://www.genuineservice.com/genuineservi...mp;nav=warranty

Click on "Owner Guides" in left column. Answer Year, make, model. Then download whatever you want. The owner guide is about 2.3mb

Thanks for the link!

The '10 FEH has .3qts more oil cap. (5.3qts) than my '09 2.5L (5.0qts) and that's an interesting change. One of the questions in the manual states why the engine runs at 40mph and the answer is it must run at 40mph. This may have been held over from the '09 manual because I've read it is 44mph in the '10 FEH. No details were given on an electric A/C but the engine belt diagram looked like the A/C pulley was missing.

I read that there was a manual lumbar adjustment but I could not find it. On my Fusion Hybrid there is one. Anyone actually have the FEH that can tell me would be appreciated. Thanks.

I see what you mean about the Fusion but what does the knob really do?

The '10 FEH lists a 6-way power, manual lumbar/recline but so does my '09 FE! All that means is that the seat's back reclines. I thought that you were refering to the inflatable type lumbar support.

I my 2010 Fusion Hybrid, the Lumbar wheel increases or decreased lumbar support. It does not inflate, but when you turn the wheel, it does push the lumbar support out as much as 1/2 inch. It also makes it harder. I was hoping the Escape had that as well. I am still inclined to get it as our second vehicle.
