ice-capades
Finally got my sticker online and the transportation method was convoy. I was expecting rail. Does anyone know what the difference is? Does it take longer? I want my stang! The biggest factor is the shipping distance from the plant to your dealer's location. For most of the country, most of the vehicle's journey is going to be via rail between the ramp at Flat Rock to the rail yard closest to its' final destination. From some plants, some vehicles are transported via convoy for a relatively short distance to the rail ramp. It's all a matter of logistics and the most efficient way for the vehicle to be transported. As for shipping time, it won't make a difference as vehicles shipped via rail often are held up for days at intermediate points. For our CT dealership, I'd have trouble thinking of a single vehicle line that doesn't get shipped via rail to the ramp in Selkirk, NY where they're loaded onto carriers for delivery to the dealership. When F-150's were still being built at the Norfolk plant, those vehicles were shipped via convoy all the way from the plant to the dealership and the shipping time was very short. Talk to your Dealer as they'll be able to tell you about the standard shipping methods for Mustangs that they receive.
