jpd80
Ford Australia's product mix has changed, over 75% of Falcon sales are mid and upper models. So now they sell fewer cars than 2007 but the return is better and order books are full until October. 12 months ago, they had up to 8,000 vehicles on the grass waiting to go to dealers but now, as the cars are built they leave the factory and go straight to dealers. What a turnaround! Edited July 13, 2009 by jpd80

Ting is the economy over here is terrible, and I only see it getting worse. As it is now importing a car is really pricey and I wouldn't bother with the extra costs unless t was really luxurious or sporty.

Your failure to grasp the reasoning behind Ford's lack of sales in Japan is dumbfounding. Your continued mentioning of it despite this lack of understanding is simply astounding. TStag
Would rather see increased market share in a bigger market. Whilst this is a good performance the competition won't sit still for a minute. Last thing Ford needs is to see market share begin to fall as the market expands and rivals launch new models. Not saying Ford have done badly or that Ford doesn't deserve credit but I wonder how sustainable it will be as the trading environment changes? Your continued mentioning of it despite this lack of understanding is simply astounding. Fiat's 500 is doing a bid better than the Ford Motor Co who only sold 315 vehicles in June and have been selling in Japan for ages, the Fiat 500 is NEW to Japanese market, at least they understand the Japanese market even if you are clueless as usual Nick The commercial launch of Fiat's latest convertible ensures that the Fiat 500 continues to be much discussed, and confirms its status as an Italian style icon, able to win over the public and critics worldwide. Clear evidence of its success are the 30 awards it has won worldwide, the 11 million internet users who have visited its website (viewing a total of 200 million pages) and more than 360,000 customer orders for the vehicle received in the 59 markets where it is now on sale, and thats before it arrives in the USA. This is all the more impressive when it's appreciated that more than half this vehicle's sales have been recorded outside Italy, (50 per cent elsewhere in Europe and 8 per cent in the rest of the world). In each country where it has been launched, the Fiat 500 has generated enormous interest: in Japan, for example, there have been more than 5,000 orders. Not exactly what a company with only a few billion in the bank needs.

rmc523
In Europe? To be honest, I thought you meant the NA market, but I forgot where you lived (and didn't even realize who I was responding to) when I made the reply. That said, ausrutherford is right, they've got new products coming everywhere now that the global product initiative has been implemented.
