7Mary3
Time for some wild rumors about the 2011 Super Duty. First off, take a look at this thread from a few years ago. Pay particular attention to the list of features the '08 was supposed to have: http://www.blueovalforums.com/forums/index...ic=47&st=40 Did you catch the SLA independent suspension with rack and pinion steering on 250's and 350 4X2's? Note mention of restyled outer panels on the box? No more V-10? I remember that thread, and I had heard the same things through some other sources at the time that I considered to be very reliable. Needless to say, I was quite surprised when I got a look at the '08 Super Duty for the first time in person, and it didn't have many of the rumored features. Now for the rumor- the '08 was supposed to have those features, but some were pushed back to the next generation, which will be 2011. Some may not happen even in 2011. My guess is that the 2011's will look like a mild restyle of the 2008, but we may see quite a few changes underneath in addition to changes we know are coming under the hood. Stay tuned...... 7Mary3
I have been told to expect a new grill (which is not attached to the hood Dodge style), new hood, new tail lamp assemblies with modified quarter panels, and a new dash. An all-new very heavy duty 6 speed automatic is also rumored. Prototypes are being tested in some major cities, if anyone sees one, try to get a look at the front suspension (be safe, not while it's moving!). 7Mary3
some pictures at http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-f-250-super-duty-2011.html Mechanically, we expect the 2011 Super Duty will carry over Ford’s 6.7-liter “Scorpion” V-8 diesel that’s expected to debut in the 2010 model year trucks. Actually, the 6.7l 'Scorpion' is expected to debut in the 2011 Super Duty. The 2010 is largly unchanged from the 2009, and will have a short model year. The 2011 will go on sale early in 2010. bonehead
Ford, Please don't eliminate the manual transmission option from the Super Duty line. This would be a huge mistake and would send all of the manual shift business over to the Dodge. We still want manuals!

That leaves, umm, nobody to offer a manual any more in the heavy duties.

7Mary3
Get your front straight axle while you can! I heard 350 dually's and 450 4X4's will still have SFA. Has that changed?

All of the spy photos I have seen still show a rather large pumpkin sticking down up front, Add in the fact that most SD's are used for working ( They are the only truck used for plowing around here) and I would be shocked if Ford wasted their time putting IFS in which no one seems to want. Ford gets a lot of customer complaints about shimmy and bump-steer on Super Duty 4X4's. They want to (finally!) get rid of 'Twin-I-Beam' on Super Duty 4X2's. My guess is if the IFS rumor is ture, Ford is going to do what GM has done since 2001 on their HD's: have a common front suspension between 4X4 and 4X2. KySuperDuty
Take it easy fellas!! 2011 S.D. 4x4's will still have solid front axle. Front axle, tie rod, trac bar, sway bar, links all look simialer to 2010. There are a couple sitting around in the plant with engineers and launch personel hovering over and inspecting. We are supossed to build about 100 units next month along side the 2010's for job training purposes. The new 6.7L and the new tranny is a HAWSE???? Looks like something you would see in a semi!! Sheetmetal looks to be freshened up. Front headlights are rather large. Will be launching vehicle in Feb. or March 2010. Later :shades:

Sportscraft
Dually fenders are looking kinda skimpy through the camo. Kind of like the dodge mega cab fenders - which I'm not a fan of. Luckily though street scene has some options for us.
Jeepman
I am wondering aloud here. I understand there will be a shakedown period. I just ordered a 2010 F-450. Born on date around second week of Dec. The question is, would it be prudent to wait it out and put a hold on this build until the new beast arrives.. like maybe a few more months? Or will it drive this new rig back another 4 or 5 months with a 15K higher sticker? Weighing the possibilities. Considering I will not be pulling anything until possibly late april.. could it be here for that trip? real_texan
Since ford developed this diesel in-house and not outsourcing it with navistar.....does that mean the diesel option will be cheaper than the 7000 that they are asking for now. Not a chance. It will be more expensive, primarily due to the SCR system. Also, it looks like Ford will be loosing money on this engine, at least for a few years. When it was under development, diesel light truck sales were quite a bit stronger than they are now. Ford will not see the sales volume with the 6.7L that they had anticipated. We were talking about this at work the other day. We will just have to wait and see.
