New program announced today to expedite retail order scheduling.

To: All Ford and Lincoln Mercury Dealers

Subject: EFC0200946DC 2010MY Fusion Hybrid & 2010 Milan Hybrid Retail Order Scheduling Program

We are pleased to announce a limited-time 2010MY Fusion/Milan Hybrid Retail Order Scheduling Program which will provide scheduling for all verified 2010MY Fusion Hybrid and 2010MY Milan Hybrid retail orders placed in the order bank by March 31st.

Why is Ford doing this?

We feel this presents our dealers with a tremendous opportunity to pre-sell as many 2010MY Fusion Hybrids and 2010MY Milan Hybrids as possible. Dealers can now aggressively solicit legitimate retail business and have the confidence of telling customers that their retail order will be built.

Retail Order Eligibility Details

Only legitimate retail orders verified through the newly developed Retail Order Verification Process will be considered for scheduling

Retail orders must be placed by March 31, 2009, no extensions beyond this date will be considered

Eligible order types are 1, 3, A, X, Z, D Only

Retail orders must be clean and buildable by March 31, 2009 and verification process must be completed by April 3, 2009. No exceptions or extensions will be considered

This program may end prior to March 31, 2009 if the number of verified retail orders exceeds available production capacity

Only eligible and verified orders meeting the above listed criteria will be considered for scheduling above and beyond any dealer allocation commitment

Listed below is a short Q&A designed to clarify the program

When will the verified retail orders be produced?

Eligible and verified orders will be considered for production during the April through October production months. Production timing guidance will be provided to dealers with verified retail orders in April. Timing estimates will depend upon the number of verified orders received.

Will all eligible and verified retail orders be produced immediately?

Monthly production is limited, so Ford will evaluate the number of eligible and verified retail orders before any production timing commitments can be provided.

Will this retail order scheduling commitment extend beyond March 31, 2009?

We do not anticipate an extension beyond March 31, 2009

Do I need to verify retail orders already in the order bank?

Yes, every retail order, including those already in the order bank must be verified for scheduling of April Production.

How do I verify my retail order?

Please refer to EFC0200944DC for instructions on the retail order verification progress.

What will happen if my order is not buildable (e.g. has a configuration error)?

Dealers are responsible for providing a clean and buildable order by 3/31/09, no exceptions will be honored

What happens with the 2010MY Fusion Hybrid and 2010MY Milan Hybrid allocation strategy?

We may have to temporarily postpone or scale back the existing allocation strategy announced in eFCs EFC0800446DC & EFC0800447DC, depending on the number of verified orders received. The timing for any adjustment to the allocation strategies will be decided in early April and be communicated to dealers

I ordered a Milan Hybrid on the 16th of February, but have not received a confirmation yet. I spoke with the dealer on Thurday and coincidentally some Ford sales rep was at the dealership on the same day. Apparently Ford has to verify the orders for the hybrids, so the dealer gave them copies of all my paperwork. Anybody know if this is what is refered to in the memo listed or is there some type of other verification needed? I didn't see this until after I spoke with the dealer so haven't asked for anymore details.

Actually saw both the Fusion and Milan Hybrids at the Cleveland Auto show (or that's what they were purported to be. I'm a skeptic I guess) on Saturday. You couldn' t actually get into the Fusion (since it was locked). The Milan was unlocked, so you could actually get into the vehicle. However the trunk was locked so you couldn't actually see how much trunk space was lost due to the hybrid battery. It supposed to sit vertically behind the rear seat (I gues that is why the seat doesn't fold down). Nice car, not much physical change from the 2009's

Saw the 2010 Taurus Sho. Beautiful car. Making me second guess by Milan decision.

The hybrid battery sits between the back seat and the trunk. It does take up trunk space, and it also makes the back seat space slightly smaller (you lose half an inch of leg room, so it's probably not noticeable). Overall, the trunk space is 11.8 cubic feet in the hybrid, vs 16.5 in the regular 2010 Fusion.

It still looks adequate and quite usable for several large pieces of luggage as long as they're stored flat and horizontally. Really, the only downside I see is the loss of pass-though for longer items, but it's a small tradeoff in my opinion, as I rarely use that feature in my current car.

Here is a picture of the Fusion Hybrid trunk (11.8 cubic feet):

Of course, I don't think most people buy cars based primarily on the trunk space, but it's good to see that the FFH bests the main hybrid competitors:

Here is a pic of the Toyota Camry Hybrid trunk, which is over a square foot smaller at 10.6 cubic feet:

The Nissan Altima hybrid smaller yet, at 9.1 cubic feet:

Also for comparison, here is the last gen Fusion trunk w/ liner if trunk space really is a major concern (I couldn't find any pics of the 2010 trunk except the hybrid):

When did you place your order? What options did you order? Good luck!

Eric

I placed my original order on Feb 5th 2009

I ordered a Light Ice Blue with charcoal interior. Rapid Spec 501A.

With Z-plan and all the taxes and fees it is $28,163.42.

Plus a free tank of gas from the dealership.

Very nice, congrats. How did you get Z-plan pricing? I am trying to get X-plan but local dealers are not interested at less than MSRP.

I'm not sure whether I should go with 501A + leather or just spring for the 502A. It is about $1,200 difference in pricing.

If BLIS is as good as advertised, it should be worth the money.

Z-plan is for Ford retirees. I could get X-plan through my work but my father is a 38 year Ford worker who retired 2 years ago. Hence the Z-plan.

I didn't get leather cuz its so expensive and...well i hate leather seats.

So, with the new Retail Order Scheduling Program, has anyone received a production build date for their Fusion/Milan Hybrid? Mine is approved and verified, but it has not been scheduled yet. I know of some dealers who already have stock orders that have been built, but none with the options and color I want.

How did they actually verify your order? Ford acknowledged the receipt of my Milan order on the 17th, and the dealer had to fax in my dl and order info, but even the dealer wasn't sure whether someone would actually call me or what was next?

My dealer was able to check in his computer. All it really means is that the order will be built. The production date is not scheduled yet, but he said the production window is between April and October.

It kind of threw me off when I heard the October date, but I assume that's just a worst-case scenario. I would expect those of us getting these early orders in will have our FFHs sooner.

My dealer said I'd get scheduled in April- May but I didn't get a new order number or anything from the computer AFAIK. I hope it's not October, that would suck, as I put the original in 1/19. Dealer did say something about supply chain issues but I'm not convinced they really knew much.

  • 3 weeks later...

Where did everyone get their order numbers from and confirmation the order was accepted by Ford? I got a faxed copy of the VOC dated 3/17 (vehicle order confirmation screen) order # 0315 but no DORA (dealer order receipt) proving the order is buildable. I keep calling about the DORA but my salesman doesn't seems to know what the heck I'm asking for. Thanks!

Your salesperson is an idiot. Unless you live out in the middle of nowhere there has to be another Ford or Mercury dealer around. Find one that will do your x-plan and then go to the dealer that you've already given the order too and ask to speak either to the manager or the person that actually orders the vehicles. If they continue to play dumb or are uncooperative, cancell your order and place your order with the new dealer. The car business isn't like it once was. Cars aren't selling that well including the new ones. If they treat you this poorly before your vehicle comes in, imagine how well they will treat you when you need service.

Its been a week since you ordered your car, they should have something from Ford acknowledging the receipt of your order. If you ordered a hybrid, it will definitely have to be acknowledged by the end of the month if you have any hope of getting the full $3400 hybrid tax credit.

A dealer should already have access to invoices for the various packages that have been invoiced already. So they should have a good idea as to what the plan prices are. When I ordered my Milan hybrid in mid February, my dealer already had an invoiced vehicle from another dealership, that listed the plan prices for the ordered vehicle. It was pretty easy from those numbers to do an approximate guestimate for what I was buying.

Hi swsaint. :D As we have tried to explain to Joe, a Dealer does not need to do a 'guesstimate". They input the information into the order system and out pops the exact price of the vehicle ordered.

On that VOC the Dealer can include or exclude any price field they so desire. They can include or exclude the Invoice Price, X-Plan Price, the A-Plan Price and other fields.

As you (I and others) have stated, his Salesperson is either an idiot, incompetent, or a liar. And until Joe decides to stop dealing with the Salesperson and politely confront the Sales Manager or General Manager, he will keep getting the runaround.

Now to top it all off, Joe has asked this same question, and slight variations, in about 4-5 different threads. So even more information and opinions (correct and/or well intentioned but incorrect) are being thrown around in a somewhat haphazard and disjointed manner.

All of this Internet back and forth in multiple threads that Joe has created is not going to solve anything.

He simply needs to go to the Dealership and ask for a VOC that has the X-Plan Price field included (if his Dealer will accept X-Plan Pricing). And he needs to politely insist that they get their act together and get him a DORA. That is what he needs to do. Asking the same questions over and over, that we have already answered over and over, is getting us nowhere.

And I want to make it clear that I am only trying to help him (hear that Joe?) and mean no disrespect at all. We have given all the correct answers, he now needs to step up and follow the advice he has received.

Good luck. :beerchug:

Thanks to all for the insight and advice. I apologize if the posting got messy - I was trying to gather as much info as possible with the short timframe to get my oreder in prior to 3/31. The dealership where I placed my order just sent me an email they received on 3/20 from "Program Headquarters" showing my Enrollment number, Order number, name and an Approved status. Looks like I am all set! Thanks again!!!

Hi Joe. :D Glad you were able to straighten things out! I hope you get your Fusion as soon as possible.

Good luck. :beerchug:
