That way Wall Street would not be running it any more.

bronco1994
:happy feet: Well if the UAW was to let the big three get rid of job banks? We would still have to vote on the change to the contract, I would belive they just can't change the contract with out a vote first. Me my self will vote NO. We have given up enough the ceo's make way too much and they say that they are ok with their wage no cuts for them....

Its a 2 way street we are in this together Wow, first of all the reason they went on strike was over VEBA funding....no one has asked us to reduce our pension and the IUAW has entry level wages, benefits and retirement!! Hopefully there is enough work out there that was conceeded in the last agreement that we can bring back in to put all people in JSP back to work!! So even though they say they will give up JSP, there are ways around it!! I bet that Ron can get whatever he wants from the Big 3 right about now. The first thing I would ask for is Wagner's walking papers!! Edited November 21, 2008 by Captain723

Its a 2 way street we are in this together Don't you ever want to be a retiree if there still is a company to retire from, why do you insist that the retirees should give up benefits? They don't have a vote and you want to comdemn them. Do you not have a stake in retirement? We have the chance to have things bargained back if we do have to give back, but the retirees will be the last to get benefits back and they are already on fixed incomes. The Gen is a great thing but it was given by the retirees that bargained and voted for it. Every benefit we have was because of them. So if we do have to give back why and what do you believe they should give back? Oh, yeah I forgot you don't feel like you owe them anything, well hopefully everybody that votes, if it comes to that, doesn't feel like you and would like to retire someday. zoomerjrt
What I’d like to see happen is the UAW come out swinging with public commercials about the importance of buying American made, but this seems to never happen!! Maybe instead of asking for handout we need to stop supporting China run Wal-Mart, which Wal-Mart spends $90billion a year in Communist China for manufactured goods that could employ a lot of Americans!!! We need to see the effects of supporting American workers not the stories about the poor UAW workers which turns people off, we understand the importance of the UAW many don’t. What makes me laugh, they sit in front of Congress for money and are fearful of the American worker, but at the sametime they sent over 22 million jobs over seas Someone should ask why care now, they didn't then. diecaster
If we have to vote on this there is no way it will pass. Why should we give up a job bank that was created because of outsourcing. The execs are still making their money. Even if they go to a dollar a year it is not going to hurt them, but the loss of the job bank will hurt everyone. Another move by the union who cares so fucking much about us!!!!!

Unfortunatly, "Buy American" is becoming harder to do,In fact, many items on our FORD vehicles, are no longer "MADE IN AMERICA". I cringe everyday, when I see "JAP CRAP" in our parking lots, At work. But that is my point the UAW and members need to stand up and show the importance of buying American, it needs to be done in a way that supports everyone not just UAW. People outside of UAW families don't care and that's what needs to change.

What the US Congressman and Senators especially those in the right to work states with foreign car companies don't seem to grasp is that without the UAW and Domestic automakers there wouldn't be any foreign car companies in their states. If it wasn't for the UAWs wages and benefits they wouldn't be giving them squat, they would be hiring the immigrants from mexico and Bush would be saying nobody wants to do those low paying jobs. I would guess that if the big 3 didn't exist or ceased to exist there would be no car companies in the US.

They need to promote buying cars from American companies (paying corporate tax to america not japan) not cars made in america because they aint gonna win the pr battle against the assholes in the media on that.
