4d4evr-1
Mulally should tell the American public and the government Ford Does Not Need To Be Helped. The plan is in place and we can make it without public funds. The cars are selling in Europe and will sell here if the gas goes up. If it doesn't then there needs to be a gas tax to about $4.00/gal. to support the public buying smaller cars with better mileage. The public should be told by Mulally we stand by our cars and trucks, the quality it there and the price is right. The public, I would hope then would support Ford with purchases instead of a bail out. THE PLAN IS IN PLACE AND YOU CAN TAKE YOUR MONEY AND................ 4D4EVR

It is looking more and more as though Congress is going to take a bye on an auto bailout. That being the case, either GM or Chrysler will be filing Chapter 11 soon, and the remaining two will have to file just to be able to compete. These are indeed dark days. It makes me sick to watch them beg. We don't need their pity. Besides, what does our government know about good business plans?
fordguru
ford is in a decent positon for once and we need to jump on it. ford will get uaw concessions without goverment intervention. this will give ford alot of help without the cost of goverment aid. we need to make sure the public knows we did not take any money. we will have to do this with our marketing money since this will not be covered by the majority of the big 3 basher media. as far as the price of gas and taxes i say yes we should tax gas in such a way to protect our future plans. by alowing gas to go up and down only adds to the guess work on what the maret will demand. if we make it through this recession we should be a better company with better products when the auto market comes back. at this time we can start to rebuild our image with these great products. i am buying ford stock in all my future investments. we have a good plan! i also imagine our upper managment is highly motivated now from all the verbal lashings. jason
DUCKRACER
Maybe he would http://voices.washingtonpost.com/the-trail..._to_offsho.html Thanks for the link. If you read his words carefully, he always adds an "if" that proposes some restriction that will make it impossible. He says he will "look at" nuclear energy "if" it is safe. And guess what? It will never safe for the a-hole. I hope I am wrong. Maybe he will tell his eco-nazi constituents to go pound sand and just start drilling. Don't bet on it, though. AM2
Ford has some money, and they have a good plan, this gives them an advantage over GM and Chrysler. Now that the Auto Bailout failed, if GM and Chrysler go down, they would most likely take the parts suppliers with them. 80% of GM and Chrysler's parts suppliers also supply parts to Ford. over 50% of them also supply parts to Asian carmakers in the US. Mr Mulally is forecasting that Ford would be profitable again by 2011 but said that may not happen if another US car company went bust Click here to read the rest: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/3971447.US...ndustry_rescue/ $14B auto bailout dies in Senate http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081212/ap_on_.../congress_autos Global stocks slump as rescue talks fail http://money.cnn.com/2008/12/12/markets/wo...sion=2008121204 Edited December 12, 2008 by AM2
g48150
We'll be lucky if we see $3 gas anytime soon. There's barges in the Persian Gulf that are filling with crude, NOT EVEN MOVING! Communist China and Facist Indian governments will be toppled, who's going to invest in an unstable war zone? I even read that a GM factory in China is shutting down because all their business was GMNA.
jpd80
$3/gallon gas will be back, oil prices are artificially low at the moment and will recover. OPEC wants oil prices back up around $70/barrel and they are working to dry up all those floating stocks. A 4 million barrel/day cut is huge and while the economy is depressed, it hasn't completely stopped. In the meantime, if the stock market begins trading positive, oil futures may turnarond and head to +$50/barrel even before the end of January.
