Ford Jellymoulds
Whatever happened to catch them young then you got them for life? The Yoof of today in Europe fall into two categories mostly are into Greenpeace FOE all things green and very anti-car. Most are into pinning paper on the back of an SUV drivers with "I am a Prick" written on it. Others are into something like South Londons Old Skool Ford which offers something for the yoof, their website forum is more popular and gets more visits than Blue Oval News and just l can't help but think Ford are missing out future sale by only offering super boring cars for Granddads . They should a least have something like the Mustang as they have nothing on offer for the yoof of Europe. http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/index.php 100,000s of PRO car fans will be out for a tyre squealing weekend at Goodwood like JPD enjoys, so why can't Ford start designing exciting cars again to re-engage with the yoof and not rely Old Skool kool to do it for them. If l my parents had come home in a boring bland Mondeo gotta say l would want to join Greenpeace, why pander to the greenies why not just make cars exciting again then folk will foget all about C02 and think more about BHP, and start buying cars again rather than wanting to ban and tax them off the streets of Europe, folk were never this hostile to cars in the past. 100,000s of tyre squealing PRO car fans of all ages including myself will be at TIRE SQUEALING GOODWOOD next weekend 11th-13th July. http://www.goodwood.co.uk/site/content/fes.../The-Movie.aspx Edited July 6, 2008 by Ford Jellymoulds
SH3
A topic i have to agree strongly with . In europe they have redesigned the long running Ka for 2009 and it's rumored next up is a sport version with a 1.4 turbo engine . Of course Ford Europe has also been involved for some time now with Cosworth "or vice versa" in making the ultra groovy and hi-output next size up from the Ka offering they sell there . No spoon feeding , google it if you don't know which car i speak of . How can things be so different in current offerings between N America and Europe/UK ? I need a car . I know what type car i want and i want to buy American but there's a problem-- Whats the fix for this and do other people in the USA that don't live on the internet share my thoughts ? Ford if your listening ,bring a Sport model Ka to the USA with gasoline 1.4 turbo or 1.6 NA engines . If you do , i'll buy one .
J-150
I'd like to know which companies do make cars that are appealing to people that have no money. The so-called appealing cars are not even new models. They are used Hondas and the like that are riced-up. Guess what? Mitsu went after the youth market like a rabid dog. They almost went bankrupt for their troubles. Sorry, but if I were Mulally, I'd say "screw the youth". Go after the markets where you can actually sell a vehicle with margin laden options, not a $10k rollerskate with vinyl floors and manual crank windows. ModelWarships
Your not going to get much for under 10k unless you like roller skates and Briggs and Sratton engines. I think the new Fiesta is one of those cars that can help bring back young budget minded buyers to Ford. My first brand new car was a little Mercury Tracer that I purchased for 7k in 1989. It was a little light on the amenities, but damn was it reliable. I logged about 380,000 miles on it and only parked it when the frame rusted around the front suspension. Before that I owned all kinds of cars from GM to Chrysler. After the Tracer I have purchased only Fords. My newest car is a 2009 Ford Focus and it was affordable enough that I could really option it out. I think the Focus appeals to the young crowd, and I'm sure the Fiesta will. NickF1011
I'm changing the topic title after I post this message: Ford is seen as a company that doesn't make cars that appeal to young people......in Europe. They have quite the opposite reputation in North America where they often score pretty well with younger car buyers.
Reigner92
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq1c3726leI...feature=related Haha Ford needs to put a modernized version of this out to advertise the Fiesta.

Ford Jellymoulds
1969 was a great year can't say l can remember a better year ever 1969 Ford Capri was intoduced that went on to be the best selling sports car for a whole decade sending everybody elses sports car sales to almost zero in Europe, fast Forward to 2009 Ford are the ones that sell zero coupes in Europe these days. It also went on to be Fords most successful car in Touring Car racing beating Porshe 911, BMW Batmobiles & all of Europes finest cars at the time. 1969 Ford GT 40 wins 24 Le Mans driven by Jackie Ickx & James Oliver 1969 F1 - Jackie Stewart World Champion in Matra/Ford & every race that year was won by a DVF powered car. Fords engines went on to power a decade of F1 winners - Ford engines have been World Champions 13 times only bettered by Ferrari 15 times. 1969 Boeing 747 first maiden flight bring long haul travel to the masses 1969 Concordes first maiden flight and still without a replacement 1969 Appollo 11 first man on the moon, not the Star Treckie rubbish but for real.
