the_spaniard
I was coming back from a friend's surf shop in Redondo Beach, when this thing rolled by me to the right. Sorry for crappy picture quality, I was holding on to my cam and my 7'6" Funboard I just bought at the same time. I was driving there, too. Interesting stuff. 8A4RE
I wonder where they were taking it. Maybe it was headed to the shredder .
the_spaniard
I wonder where they were taking it. Maybe it was headed to the shredder . That's pretty much just a show-truck, right? Are they planning a dually?
8A4RE
Yes, I think it was built specifically for the SEMA aftermarket show. I want to say that truck was built only to gauge consumer interest. I don't know if they plan to produce it or not.
TomServo92
I wonder where they were taking it. Maybe it was headed to the shredder . No need. Just put a heavy load in the bed and drive it over a very rough surface. It'll shred itself. :shades:
Hydro
Toyota has been making dually's for a while. Look at this bad boy, talk about brawn.
Sixt9coug
Yeah its not a mule. It was in Long Beach last weekend for the Toyofest show at Veterans Stadium. A friend is into old school Toyotas (RWD ones) and he saw it there. There was an awesome Land Cruiser done up as a rat rod truck with a Nascar SBC in it. I dont care who you are, that was a sick vehicle.

ViperPilot
Maybe if they do make a dually they can afford the extra weight to reinforce the tailgate.
Blueblood
The frame probably broke from the added stress of the 4 wheels..

The Ecology Long Beach High Performance swap meet was the next day and i had to go to pick up a Griffen radiator there from some guys that are out of Asuza. So there were to be no sink holes. Otherwiise i would be displeased and all would suffer my rath. Edited May 10, 2008 by Sixt9coug
Bored of Pisteon
I wonder if they'll order their diesel engines from Navistar?

I dont care who you are, that was a sick vehicle. Well there you go. That would explain it. That Land Cruiser is awesome. I've never seen one done up like that. The Land Cruiser is the only Toyota that I still like (well that and the 80's era small pickups with the 22R engines). I see them on off-road trails, and some of them look like they have fallen off a cliff, but are still running. They were a capable design, and looked pretty good too, unlike the current Premium-fuel only FJ. You would think Toyo would want to murder some of the nasty gremlins ailing their current truck before thinking about a dually.
8A4RE
I wonder if they'll order their diesel engines from Navistar? They considered using CAT. But decided to go with Hino power. "We thought long and hard about diesel partners. Obviously, we have our company affiliation as Toyota with Hino, but then our NASCAR and NHRA teams are sponsored by Caterpillar. It was a tough decision but we decided to go with the Hino. They were generous enough to donate one of their medium duty trucks to the cause and also assigned us a dedicated field engineer - to help us figure out how we were going to get the drivetrain into the truck and convert it to a Hino (engine)," recounts Mr. Amstock.
