Blue Oval Guide
A Star at Toyota, a Believer at Ford As the lights dimmed, Mr. Farley didn’t lead cheers or shout slogans. Instead, he spoke from the heart, revealing a depth of passion for Ford that turned the room dead silent. He talked about his grandfather, who had gone to work for Henry Ford at the celebrated Rouge plant in 1914; about his first car, a vintage 1966 Mustang; and about the dealers and their families and their livelihoods. Like a shy actor blossoming on stage, Mr. Farley became swept up in the emotional power of the moment. “I believe, in many ways, the future of Ford is the future of our country,” he said. “The work here is simply more important than the work I was doing at Toyota.” When he finished, the dealers rose for a standing ovation that left Mr. Farley momentarily stunned. After the applause died down, he savored the reaction. READ MORE HERE.

sprtch06
Its refreshing to see people with passion in the business again. It also sounds like Toyota is heading where Detroit just came from.
[Wolverine]
Is not easy to leave the company you've been working for 17 years and start all over at a new one. That takes more than a bigger salary, it takes will to really change things and courage to face a problem with disposition to defeat and overcome it. Mr. Farley's words touched deep on my blue heart. Speculation here on my part, but I wonder if HE (Farley) could be the top dog one day.

Speculation here on my part, but I wonder if HE (Farley) could be the top dog one day. For some reason his hair to me makes him even more sincere and believable. This guy comes across not as a cookie cutter executive who tows the line and reads the company mantra: this guy does his own thing, eschews stereotypes and is open. How many executives would admit that in their youth they were called "Jimmy Car-Car" by family members? I still am not thrilled by Ford's complete lineup but between Farley, Mullaly, Fields and Bill Jr. and the new products coming out, this is the best I have felt about the company in a long time. :shades:

I think that speech just put him up a notch over Fields
Mark B. Morrow
You have to love a guy who really is Ford True Blue. When he was 14, Mr. Farley spent the summer working in a factory in California that rebuilt Ford engines. He bought his first car there: a jet-black 1966 Mustang hardtop. He then drove it cross-country in two days to a family vacation home in Michigan — without a driver’s license. That's balls.
Extreme4x4
Wow........... what a great article. Passion, commitment, thinking outside the box, and the ability to know that you do not know everything................ what an amazing compilation of gifts. His ability to get others to think the same way, makes him a truly rare find. Its funny, because when I told my husband his name............. he laughed, and said "Chris Farleys cousin, huh??" He will get a big kick out of knowing that his joke was entirely correct. LOL Things look to get interesting in the future.............. in a good way.
