5-Door Fiesta Unveiled

2010. :banghead:

Now I know how my VW friends feel when the New Golf/Rabbit/GTI came out and they had to wait a year. I guess Europe loads them on a wooden galleon and sails with the wind and tide to get here. Oh yeah, don't forget it's still winter in the North Atlantic so it's pretty rough out there. :stirpot:

"With the all-new Fiesta, we want to create a world standard for small car quality, design and comfort in a vehicle that is as exciting to drive as it is to look at," said Alan Mulally, Ford Motor Company President and CEO

Fuel economy also blends with power with a new Duratec 1.6-litre Ti-VCT engine that provides 15 PS (14.79 hp) more power than the outgoing engine without boosting fuel usage. Still available in Europe will be the 1.25-litre and 1.4-liter gasoline engines and the 1.4-liter and 1.6-liter diesel engines. Fiesta will be offered with Ford Durashift 5-speed manual transmission or the Durashift 4-speed automatic transmission (available with 1.4-litre Duratec gasoline engine)."

We should hold him to his word and demand the diesel for the USA.

loving it....and knowing Ford it won't be 2010...it will be a 2010 MODEL avail next year........

I hope that old mentality is gone. I don't need a 5-dr but if I can save money in insurance because a 3-dr is classified a sports car (in some provinces), I'll do it. No sedan for me please, it's not practical.

As bold as their decision to can the Panthers. Neither one can be implemented soon enough.

Way to bring the Panthers in yet ANOTHER thread. tard.gif

Getting BACK ON TOPIC...

Nice car...but too bad the headlights go 2/3 the way up the fender. Looks like a face lift gone bad.

Love it. Would definitely consider one if we needed a small gofermuter-type vehicle. The greenhouse seems a little stodgy in the front to me, but it's still a great looking car for its class. Reminds me a lot of the original Focus in that regard.

As an aside... given all the infinite possible combinations, that's an interesting fake Vanity plate they put on there. Like a spelled-out "Boston dialect" pronunciation of "Verve", with the model year "0-10". ^_^

Nice! I like it. Why can't they make a larger version of this design for the NA Focus?

Good Job Ford! I am not sure if you can make a compact car look better than this..

The Next Gen Focus (both NA and FOE products) will use the same styling as the Fiesta.

Now THAT is one cool-looking little hatch!

My little brother is a fan of the Scion xA and Honda Fit. If it doesn't get at least 35 MPG Highway (by the older measurements), then he's not interested. The 1998 Escort sedan I passed down to him seems to be serving him well enough. Maybe he'll take a close look at a Fiesta for his first new car...

As for me, I'm holding out for a Euro-spec C2 Focus. Unless, of course, GM finally wises up and offers the 1.6L Turbo in the Opel (Saturn here) Astra...

Verve... Fiesta... Festiva... Foreplay... Escort...

Any name will work I guess. This is one stellar little car... Lots of soul and charachter.

I agree it looks a winner, and it looks good enough to knock Peugeot 207 off the top spot in Europe. I will certainly take trip down to my local Ford dealer which is a place l have not visited for over a decade now. Well done Ford it looks a winner.

Well, considering the larger Focus gets 35 mpg highway with a larger engine, i can't see the Fiesta being any worse. Hopefully it outdoes the rather disappointing 36 mpg the Yaris offers.

I think all the subcompacts would be better mileage-wise if the companies offered the smaller engines that other markets get. I know they might be worried about performance, but I think people looking at this type of car would prefer them. Why do European superminis get so much better mileage than ours, besides the engines?
