rmc523
I was reading posts where people commented that the mercury emblem is dated and unexciting. I was thinking about different emblems such as the Mercury god head, then I was looking through some of my sketches and found these..... the first (and second) is the Megellan, a full size Mercury truck based off the Super Chief concept. I made the emblem a star type thing for the Megellan name, but it could serve as the new Mercury emblem. the second is the front of a new Cougar I designed. Its basically a square version of the current emblem. Edited August 9, 2007 by rmc523
LincolnFan
The Cougar looks MKR based, awesome design. I love the shining star badge on the Magellan! Cool designs, most of the people who draw their own designs like to put excessive stuff, I like the clean and simple approach.

I prefer to make stuff that looks essentially production ready.
mercurymichael
I actually like the "square" flying M. It's amazing what changing the shape does. My favorite Mercury logo is still the cougar head. If cougar was ever restablished as the halo car it once was, the division could become the sign of that cat again--literally using the cougar badge. I also like the prowling cougar. I actually never minded the flying m. I thought it was awesome on the '86 Sable, but time change and maybe it is time to evolve it.
Roadrunner
That Cougar is awesome. Not so sure about the truck, but I like the star design for a logo.
LastMercury
square waterfall looks like an Olds emblem. I love the star on the Magellan
Traveler
+1 for the star. Since its unlikely that Ford would use the Mercury god head for its Mercury logo, I like the celestial theme. Very good idea. Maybe some Ford executive eyeballs will see this. Just don't charge them too much for the right to use it, so everybody can benefit. Mark B. Morrow
The star is similar to the emblem Lincoln used on the '56-'57 Premiere. I have a diecast '56 on my shelf. I do like the drawings. The Megellan and Cougar concepts are very nice.

rmc523
The star could be used for most cars, while the square emblem could be used for sportier models, such as Cougar. (maybe? just a thought) Edited August 13, 2007 by rmc523

Watchdevil
I've always preferred the Mercury "godhead" logo to all others. Love it, love it, love it.... So much brand image potential going to waste... Just like Thunderbird, Cougar and Continental....

It doesn't stand for anything and the "stylized M" explanation doesn't even carry any water for me. Regardless, the first impression I had (after the fact that I liked the "star" concept) was that the "star" is a bit close to what Lincoln has -- by that I mean that the Lincoln emblem was supposed to originally represent a "diamond" and might be too closely related to each other if it were implemented. As for the the other emblem, I agree with LastMercury's comment that it almost looks like the old "Rocket" logo from Oldsmobile. Still very good and I think that I'd prefer it to the current round emblem. Very good ideas rmc523 -- at least someone is trying to do right by Mercury... I've always preferred the Mercury "godhead" logo to all others. I always LOVED this emblem and never understood why Mercury didn't want to go back to it. I always preferred this to the "cat logo" or the current one. In fact, it kind of reminds me of the old, old ads where they had the "Big M" Mercury campaign from years ago -- where the Mercury Godhead was placed on top of a much bigger "M". I myself think the Mercury logo looks classy. It looks really good on the steering wheel of the Milan.
