paymaster
Tretopflir,Thank you! Seems like a long time between order and build. Any changes you know about? Bobbo We here at Michigan Truck have been told that they are reducing us to one shift. This info was given to us before the new year. It will most likely take that time frame to assure that all employees are up to speed and still building a quality product. As of Mon. 5Feb07 the shift reduction was to occur in April 07. There has been no rumor or statement of a diesel or alternative fuel engine for the expy/nav . As more info is sent our way I will forward it to this site as soon as possible. bobbo
Paymaster, Thank you. I gather they go to one shift in April to turn the line over from 07 to 08? And train employees? So I order in March for early July delivery? Bobbo
MTPwife
Bobbo, They're cutting a shift at MTP because of the drop in demand in Expy's & Navs (damn gas prices). if they would just flex fuel them! Argh! It would be in their best interest since they make a tidy profit on them. As someone already said, they've flex fueled the F150 so I'd not be surprised if they finally flex the Expy & Nav but it may not be at Michigan Truck. MTP'er
I don't think they'll put a flex fuel engine in either because of the lower MPG and horsepower you get from E85. The diesel engine will be in 09 or 10. There making changes to the frame and body to accomedate it. :happy feet:
ha paschold
i wonder if all diesel projects are on hold now, ford and international are not on best of terms due to the 6.0 psd warranty claims.. read the 6.0 cost ford 500 million bucks in warranty claims ? i know on my e350, they spent all of 16k, including lawsuit settlement. the E series van was supposed to run out 2nd quarter with the 6.0 diesels, earlier this month, word word was sent out to bus and ambulance outfitters said no more diesels available least that the reading s over at the dieselstop.com site. bobbo
Dealer doesn't have 2008 order info. Anyone have latest news? (And I need an X-Plan PIN if anyone can help.)
ha paschold
ford stopped paying for 6.4 psds, wanted international to pay for 6.0 warranty claims.....rumored to be 500 million bucks ! navistar stopped shipping engines. the 6.4 psd will probally never fit in a e van... the 6.0 barely fit. ha paschold
What was the problem(s) with the International? j why order an 08 ? i m sure the 07 s will have some nice incentives and great finance rates ! dealers in my area have plenty of 07s....not moving well, and since gas went up 40 cents in the last month, i m sure it will slow the big suv sales down again. bobbo
You can order an 08 Expy now! Some previously optional features are now standard, some new exterior colors, and a new rear camera option. Production starts early June, with delivery early July. We're ordering this week for several extended family trips this summer. Thanks for all your info and help. gooddog59
Does anyone have pricing info on the 08? Salesman faxed a dummy order to me, but it contained no pricing. I tried ordering an 07 on May 9. A few days later I was told that 07 was built-out and no longer available. Neither ford.com, edmunds, etc have any info on the 08s yet. bobbo
Gooddog, I ordered an 08 on 5/17. No prices, but I used 07 as a guide. I did a lot of research. There are relatively few substantial changes. I wanted the rear camera, and figure it should cost about $450 (this option unavailable on 07's). If you're ordering a base model, some previously optional accessories/features are now standard. I figure prices will be within 1-2% of 07. Dealers often have to order w/o prices. I'm #125 in build order, so should be first or second day of production in early June. Delivery early July. I couldn't get exactly what I want off anybody's lot. From a depreciation standpoint, I'm happy with an 08. Any questions, let me know.
gooddog59
Thanks bobbo. Yes- I suppose pricing assumptions should be straight-forward: I start with the 07 "order" - Redfire XLT 4x4 with all options except convenience pkg, deduct $676 for the appearance pkg no longer available, add back $676 for the lost TX/OK discount which may not be available in 08 and I'm back to the same price as 07 +/- change in base price & any price changes in options. I do like the 18 in. wheels and Discount Tire is standing by to trade the all season to AT tires if I desire, and the 3.73 axle looks to be an option in the 08 4x4. The "biggie" is the potential loss of factory incentives currently in place (up to $3,000). This is a replacement for my 97 which will turn ten years old in July. bobbo
Dog, My Mountaineer turns 10 in Sept w/ 134K miles. Bulletproof. I need third seat and more towing capacity. I ordered Eddie Bauer Expedition with a lot of options. Wanted the rear camera, only avail for '08. I couldn't find colors and options I wanted in lot stock '07, and rear camera was the clincher. You are right about incentives. More likely w/ '07 that '08. I also like the looks of the 18" wheels. as well as the increased footprint. Let me know if you have any ordering questions. bobbo
Dog, I'm also interested in dumping original tires. What kind of deal did Tire Rack offer? Trade in? Bobbo
