Some information regarding the missing time, I spoke to the tech at the shop about it, he said that there is something is setup that the Tech can set to make the tinme show up. However he would not share with me how to do it. There is a setup menu hidden within the NAV unit but how to activate it escapes me.

When I took delivery of my FEH in late January, even before leaving the lot, the salesman and I found the clock disappeared when the radio or any media was turned on. Like others in this forum, Ford customer support told me there was supposed to be an option to turn on the clock- not on my system. My dealer twice reinstalled software as directed by the Ford dealers' technical Support - the only result was that the Date/Clock display became frozen when a disk was inserted. Finally the dealer ordered a new clock module. On the day it was to be installed ( It was not installed), Ford came through with instructions to update the dealer's computer device that is used to program the Navigation system and then to install some new software into my FEH. While the result is not perfect, I now have a clock appear in the upper display when the radio or other media are active. It appears, in blue, between the bluetooth icon and the passenger temperature setting.I was also having a problem with the bluetooth activating the V-cast streaming music on my phone and this would disable the phone function. This software seems to have fixed that problem as well. Hopefully, Ford will make this fix widely available.

That is exactly what mine does. I don't know about everyone else's display, but if the date and time do come up on mine, the time stays fixed to whenever I turned the key on and does not advance.

This is exactly what happens with me but only when a CD is in the slot and is either playing or downloading into the jukebox - it's annoying in that one clock is correct, and the other only reflects the time when the CD when into the player, which is info no one needs and only confuses what time it is.

Would you mind sharing your dealership's info so that my dealership could possibly contact them to get the fix for this. Everytime I call to see if they've got any new info on how to fix it, they act like I've got 4 heads and am the only person with this problem.

Here is what the service manager at my dealer told me today. To fix the clock they used the IDS which is the Ford Diagnostic Tool. This had to be updated to the latest software. Using the updated IDS they accessed the vehicle options. In the new software there was an option to turn on the clock. He said they turned that option on and the clock appeared on the upper LED screen. The key seems to be that Ford has updated the IDS software to make the clock option available. Hope this helps.

I just had my '09 Escape in for its first warranty service and the dealership still has no update information on the center stack problem. i don't know if it is related or not, but other minor aggrevations are starting to pop-up. Occasionally when I stop the car and leave it parked for a while, the CD will reset to track #1 when I restart the car. Not too bad for music, but I have to do some track skipping if I am listening to a recorded book. I have also had the full map display set itself to the full audio display.

GopherM have you had any luck getting your display issue resolved. My dealer has told me there is no fix to have the date show when the Radio, Jukebox or Sat Radio is on. As you know the the display will only show the date if you are in CD or DVD mode. They reflashed my system last week due to sync issues. Now the clock in the centre that used to tell me when the engine was started will just keep on running along with the clock on the top right hand of the display.

I have just left mine alone. I have read too many mixed reviews of the success that people have had. The problem I was having with the CD player resetting seemed to be with the CDs and not the player. It was a recorded audio book and no other CDs have done the same thing. Everything else works except the calender date and the engine start time not displaying in any mode other than CD. I think I'll just leave mine alone for now.

My 2009 FEHL has Sync 2.0 installed (dealer upgrade from 1.2) and here's that I found from my limited testing:

  1. If Bluetooth device is auto-paired or otherwise recognized (the symbol appears on the two-line display at the top of the "stack") when you put the key in and either start the engine or go into accessory mode, you'll never see the "two time display" issue, where the bottom-center one is frozen in time, no matter if there is a CD or DVD in the slot ahead of time or not. In my case, my iPhone 3G auto-pairs with Sync when it's near the vehicle (even if the phone is in the living room directly above my tuck-under garage).
  2. If Bluetooth is off (turning off my iPhone 3G does the trick for me) you might see the "two time display" happen under the right circumstances, all of which begin with something in the CD/DVD slot of my Nav system and toggling power button on/off until the "two time display" issue occurs. It has nothing to do with when the car was started, although I can see why many in this forum topic believe that to be the case since that's what they see when they leave a CD or DVD in after turning the engine off, leaving the vehicle, return the vehicle and resume playing the CD or DVD.
  3. Once you "achieve(?)" the "two time display", as long as you don't take the key out and open the doors, you can turn on your Bluetooth device (iPhone 3G for me) and let it auto-pair with Sync (can take a minute, so be patient) and it won't disturb the "two time display" (assuming you like that sort of thing). You can switch to radio, juke box and back to CD/DVD and the "two time display" should stay up. If necessary, you may have to turn the Audio system on/off via the button on the dash to "toggle" the "two time display" back to life (assuming you wanted it to stay alive in the first place).

Personally, I don't expect to experience the issue much since my iPhone 3G is auto-paired as soon as I'm within range. In most cases, it never "unpairs" from Sync because it charges near my computer which sits no more than 15 feet above vehicle in the tuck-under garage. The only time it has ever occurred was when my wife borrowed the truck and noticed the issue after playing some CD's. Her iPhone 3G has the bluetooth setting turned off because....well that is another long story about 20th century women living in the 21rst century worthy of its own conversation thread.

I know the above is not an exhaustive set of tests but from my experience it only occurs under some pretty weird (and uncommon for me at least) sequence of steps that you have to perform with Bluetooth devices off, something in (or soon to be) the CD/DVD slot and (if necessary) turn the audio system on/off.

For those of you who live in states with laws requiring hands-free device usage (which usually, but not exclusively means bluetooth is involved to support that requirement), you'll probably never experience the issue of the "two time display" merely because of how bluetooth tends to keep it from ever happening in the first place.

My 2009 FEHL has Sync 2.0 installed (dealer upgrade from 1.2) and here's that I found from my limited testing:

The latest Sync is only v1.3. The 911 Assist and Vehicle Health Version 2 is what you might be refering to as v2?

My vehicle was delivered in October 2008 with Sync 1.1 already installed.

I subsequently downloaded and installed Sync 1.2 myself.

Once Sync 2.0 finally came out, I scheduled an oil change and the Sync 1.2 to 2.0 upgrade with the dealer, who initially wanted to charge me $88, but subsequently marked that part of the invoice N/C (no charge). I have successfully used the Vehicle Health Report and activated the 911 Assist feature via the new screen on my NAV system.

I was never aware of a Sync 1.3, only 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0.

The v2.0 is a dealer installed only and I "believe" that's a firmware upgrade. The v1.3 is the software upgrade. Mine came with v1.1 also, I upgraded to v1.2 and a while back to v1.3 but that v2 thing was out some months ago. You can download a version checker program at Sync's site. I'd be curious as to what version it'd say for yours now.
