Anyone know what this package consists of? It's listed as a $2140 option.

Hey Steven, that package is the Shelby Upfitters Package that is for the new Shelby GT. The package consists of the items listed below:

GT/CS Based (meaning it has the front and rear bumpers, and the side scoops)

18" Polished Bullitt wheels for the white cars,

18" Black painted Bullitts for the black cars.

Side Airbags

3:55 rear axle

Tire inflator Kit (in lew of spare tire)

Bright Aluminum Pedals

Once you price out the car, the cost isn't final until the car goes to Shelby Automobiles. Then they modify the car with a package that is $7,390, PLUS the car then qualifies for a $1,000 gas guzzler tax as well. Hope this helps.

Are you telling be Ford could engineer a GT500 with 500 horsepower and it doesn't get a guzzler tax but the engineers at Shelby American couldn't slap on a couple of parts and add 15 horsepower without being taxed? That's ludicrous.

Wow, thanks. According to KBB, it's even available for the V6.. That would be better than even the Pony Package.

Steven, thats why I tell people to not believe everything that KBB or Edmunds puts out there that relate to car programs and options. This package IS NOT available on a V6. Only a GT.

Nick, the reason why the gas guzzler tax applies is because Shelby re-flashes the program in the computer from a stock GT (which didn't have the tax, nor did it require premium fuel), to the Shelby GT. The reflash bumps the HP up more, and the tune (with the combo of premium) lowered the gas mileage enough to warrant the gas guzzler tax.

The GT500 doesn't get a guzzler tax? I beg to differ: 75261318-45sm.jpg

Notice the $1300 charge under optional equipment.
