Alan Mullaly is a good choice-did great job with Boeing Commercial Aircraft Division. Seems to be the right fit. Time will tell. (fingers crossed here)

Love your avatar, MOE,.......are you looking up Mullay's references just to be on the safe side? Better cross all fingers on both hands..........just to be on the safe side........ :bandance:

Yep. According to his bio, he's an engineer by training (and not a "business-school" type); something Billy, Fields, Nasser, etc. are not. Keep all fingers and toes crossed!

Read "End of the Line" for the inside on how Boeing does business. They specialize on whipsawing entire nations, the carrot being the possibility that Boeing will allow the individual nations a slice of the pie, contracts to build major components for the aircraft they assemble in Washington. Japan builds engines, Boeing gets contracts for sales to JAL. Read the book, what may be good for the market is not necessarily good for UAW workers.

Good point, SJ; Mulally IS a capitalist CEO---just like the rest of 'em. He answers to Wall St. moneychangers, not the company's employees. The old saw, "the more things change, the more they stay the same" will probably apply here, too. We'll stay tuned.

P.S. keep on' cuttin' davdog; it's hilarious! ;)

don't count on it...analysis on CNBC were saying it won't make much difference.....this guy is from a total different industry...Boeing has only 1 competitor world-wide.....plus it's an industry with a very long lead time..very much unlike the auto industry....just another mistake made by the leadership of this company!
