Warhead83
Everything has changed. No more are we in the time of the easy life. I am referring to union members who came from paint or body or any other cush job they have had in the plant. It's time to dig in and suck it up if you want to keep making 30.00 bucks an hour. It sucks working the line but, that's just how it is. I'm tired of all the sissies who complain about how hard the jobs are. Get over it! It's time to survive, do your job and hope that the car business gets better. I've been working the line for 14 and a half years and there is nothing wrong with me. I get the occasional sore every once in a while but I get over it. I want to continue working making 30.00 bucks an hour. If you are a person who does not like to work, you need to get out so the rest of us workers who want to work and keep thier jobs can get this economy running right again. There is stuff I want to buy, places I want to go. I won't be able to do this stuff with lazy workers. And another thing...change the attitude, it sucks for the rest of us and it spreads. It's not that hard to put a car together people. If we can get it off the line with 0 or a few defects, the company would not be spending so much money on repair. Ford could put that money into developing alternate fuel options in future vehicles. We can build these cars right if we could get rid of some of the crap that works there. I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE! Management should be blamed as well though! What is the rush to build shit? The cars are not selling! They should BACK THE F*$K OFF!! Warhead83
VERY WELL SAID! I COULD NOT AGREE WITH YOU MORE! Management should be blamed as well though! What is the rush to build shit? The cars are not selling! They should BACK THE F*$K OFF!! Yes, management is also to blaim of course. Now, I'm not sticking up for management but, look what they have to work with. If I was running a White Castle and I had one worker who makes 50 sliders in 5 minutes, perfectly stacked and all straight and another that makes 10 in 5 minutes and they are all crooked and sloppy, I would want that worker fired. He/she is not performing up to standards and therefore must be eliminated for the best interests of the company. I honestly don't know why management is pushing the cars. Maybe because Ford has no extra cash to spend on downtime. If the line keeps running, Ford can afford to pay it's workers. At this point in the game, I think that's what it is. If we are down less than a minute, there is a car lost. I think the downtime nowadays just cuts too deep.

I work in body shop.Worked in trim and Chassis for 16 of my 20 years.Looks to me like most of the repairs are Trim and Chassis.Maybe you should tell your people in Chassis and Trim to do a quality job before you start complaining about the lazy people in Body and Paint. I know for a fact alot of defects come from paint and body and why? The jobs are cake there. In trim and chassis when there are defects it is because we do all the work...I have been loaned out to both paint and body in my days and I must say paint was just too boring I don't know how people can stand doing nothing all day it would drive me crazy!! Please tell me where these jobs you speak of in Body or Paint are at!I am pretty tired at the end of the day applying sealer, baffles and picking up 20 pound parts all day!Yes there are a few really good jobs in Paint and Body but not many. There are more of the easy jobs in Paint but I would not trade easy for breathing those paint fumes all day. Also in Body I have personally witnessed some very serious injuries.A woman I worked with nearly bled to death from a severe laceration.Another was on medical for 4 or 5 months because of the severity of lacerated hand.Others have had their feet crushed. So yes some of the jobs are easier but some are also very dangerous. You do not think Ford makes us wear those pretty blue coveralls because they want us to look nice do you?I am not saying people in other depts do not have dangerous jobs but no doubt Body and skilled trades are where the most serious injuries occur. I know for a fact that we get screw-ups from body and paint. I see them. Why do you think we have body and paint repair bays up on the floor? Also, the people that came from body or paint are the ones that are screwin' everything up. I'll say it again people, dig in, do it right and survive. I'll also say that I am sure there are excellent and concerned workers from body and paint. Good ones too. Trim and chassis have good and bad people and so do the other departments. It is a virus has has plagued us for too long: lazy, bad workers.

Today, rotation # 2156 had 2 front fenders and 1 hood for a Sable and the car was a Taurus. Looks the the almighty body gods screwed-up. Oh, and also, rotation # 2271 was painted the wrong color and had to be thrown out. Good job body and paint! :happy feet:

That job has an ex-team leader on it. That person puts the Vin tag on and 1 of the fenders so it should have been caught there. Body has lazy people in it as well. The wrong color paint has nothing to do with body.

I know the wrong color paint has nothing to do with body. I was just responding to another post saying pretty much that all the defects must be in final area. I was pointing out that all the departments make mistakes.

BE THANKFUL YOU HAVE A JOB PEOPLE WOULD KILL TO BE IN POSITION.. Hey, cocksucker, As I said in a previous post, all departments have good and bad people. From what we got in final area from paint and body it looks like we got most of the slackers. My point is that all departments need to step up regardless of where they came from. Whether they had a cush job or shit job, the jobs need to be done right with no bitchin'. And, you also should be happy that you have the job that you have. I am. That's why I'm here. GOD help CAP you are really screwed , i know because i trained that that silly women on her first job WHAT A JOKE . Yeah I worked with her on the line, then she became team leader in paint, you can ask anybody that worked in prime or any other area she was team leader. The biggest problem we had with her was not hypocrisy job wise, it was that she was the queen of snitching on her union brothers and sisters, she used to tell Kim, the paint superintendent, conversations she would overhear her coworkers say about things that they would do outside of work. We tried as a group to get a new team leader, we begged management to move her but she was in deep with management, so a lot of us bid on other jobs just to get away.
