fordguy61mi Posted May 24, 2008 Share Posted May 24, 2008 A co-worker of mine said her friend went to MESC to register for work and they told him to apply for the big 3 and to keep coming back in to check because there were going to be 100 openings at Livonia Transmission soon. I told her no way could that be but she insisted this is what her friend told her. I don't really believe it, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were trying to sneak some lower wage people in before transferring people. Anyone else heard anything like this? Relax, it is just a rumor with no fact behind it what so ever. Livonia will be laying people off very soon, so obviously they will not have to hire anyone off the street. Wake up and smell the coffee... the UAW is structure from your grandfather's past; it has been broken and restructured with the two tier wage practice, not to mention the products sourced off shore, and cheap addictive imports. Don't worry next month, we can all go spend our tax refunds at Wal-Mart and keep the "economy" moving forward. Seems hypocritical to say we are spinning round the bowl financially and then not support any cost cutting measures... Has he offered any cost cutting measures of his own? I havent heard of any.. He sure was good about getting material posted in the plant when he was trying to get elected, why not work with the leadership and post his ideas for saving money? Its his job to balance the books - and if we are in such bad shape why was he trying to give the contract signing bonus to a retiree - paid for out of dues money? One of the followers that plant wide tells them what to think. Look at all the people they have screwed, including their own. If you attended yesterdays union meeting the financial report given said this year 25% of total cash the local has has been spent. When you lose dues paying members, less money goes to your local union. Keeping the vice below 1000 members, keeping extra staff will bankrupt our local. This is before this weeks layoffs. Where is the prez with our local agreement anyway? Oh yeah, he bailed. Attend your local meetings, listen and think for yourself before smearing non-party officials. The President didn't bail - he retired. He had over 40 years and took a buy out. How can we say high seniority should leave and get pissy when they do? As far as I know the reason the local contract hasn't been ratified has nothing to do with local leadership. I've been told that the company wont sign em....
