What is meant by the term white space vehicle in this context?

Essentially they are going to take stab at creating a new market segment. Similar to how Nissan created the Murano and a new segment when it came out. Eventually it spawned the Edge, Venza, and now Blazer.

I would like to get input from people herewho know the auto industry much better than I do on the topic of buying a vehicle in its last years of production (a vehicle that is being phased out of production). Is that going to cause problems for me in terms of service and support in later years?

 

I was thinking of buying a 2019 MKZ Hybrid next spring and keeping it for several years (5 to 7 years). What do you think? Bad idea? OK as long as I keep it only 5 to 7 years? I am honestly interested in getting thoughtful input from others here. Thanks.

White space means they are bringing back the Freestyle/Taurus X , I agree Flex fits that space which is why it was given to the current (soon to be gone) vehicle.

To use it on a new White Space vehicle, like the Taurus X they will need to distinguish it with an X.

Flex X was proposed but marketing found it was too much of tongue twister.

XFLEX was more popular with the kids/millenials....
