Ive read to replace this you need to basically pull the whole IP and center console apart to get at it. Is this true? Mine needs replacement (MY2008) and I dont want to pay a shop $2k to do it.

Yeah, Ill pass on that. The car just wont have a/c ever again as long as I own it.

$2K??? It's 7.3 hours of labor, core is about $100 aftermarket plus R-134. Shouldn't even be close to $2k.

need a new condenser too. They want $900 for one of the 2 parts, cant remember which one.

Ford sells the evaporator in the HVAC box. It's pricy as hell (around $900). Aftermarket is the only way to go. They are around $100. O.E. Condenser is kind of pricy too, dependent on trans and build date.
