After months of rumors, speculation and waiting, we finally have our first look at the new 2019 Chevy Blazer. The Blazer's sharp lines are a surprising departure from other more conservative Chevy models, drawing a lot of influence from the refreshed 2019 Camaro. The new two-row model will slot below the Chevy Equinox and larger Chevy Traverse, filling a gap for those who want a larger crossover without a third row.

I got the 2019 part. Is this North America? ROW? Whats the story?

Just a where Chevy is sold model, NA with a few SA coutries. Same platform as the XT5/Acadia. Figure it will price out 2k less than a similar Edge. I See this being a rental car special in no time, there is nothing that has any Wow factor. The updated Edge Is bringing more to the market and it will only be here for 3 model years. This vehicle is about 2 years late in its current form.

Its ok looking I guess. I think its kind of a step backwards for GM design-wise. Theyve done a good job (better than Ford) establishing a design language for their brands. This doesnt look like a Chevy. It doesnt have Camaro looks any more than the Malibu did a few years ago when they said the same thing. This is a mishmash of styles. Like akirby said at one point it looks like a Lexus. Another view it looks like a Highlander. Then an Edge. If someone had told me this was a Geely I wouldnt have questioned them. It has that Chinese OEM Copy/Paste thing going.

2.5 Ecotec and 3.6 V6 engines carry over but come equipped with 9-speed auto...

Let's see how Edge lines up against it with 2.0 Ecoboost and 8-speed auto..

And of course there's the ST with the 2.7 Ecoboost and performance suspension, brakes and tires.

I hate all Chevy SUVs, but at least in RS trim, this looks very good. Im a die hard ford guy so it pains me to say that. I like blacked out vehicles so maybe that is what appeals to me, along with the aggressive looks. The only thing I dont like is the floating roof. Wonder if the RS will be priced similar to an edge ST?

So, will this have a version of the new 2.7L 4 cyl "Tri-Power" motor found in Silverado?

Press release only said 3.6L V6 and 2.5L I4. Maybe they will be offering more info as it gets closer to launch.

Honda will also have the new Passport on sale when this comes out next year as well, probably some hybrid and their in house 10 speed transmission and by the time this hits the new Edge will be about 2 years away. I think GM launched this now as it is an okay vehicle that they can own the news cycle with for a few days.

I'll post it again...

Here are more pics:

The red one looks like a Lexus to me. The silver one looks like a Chevy.

Agreed - it's very interesting how different they look in different colors.

I don't mind the red one, the silver one does look like a typical Chevy.

I don't mind the front except for those stupid headlights way down on the bumper. It's a worrying trend that seems to be spreading, and it looks terrible.

The rear, however, looks like a Nissan mixed with a Mazda to me. I don't like the interior much, but I don't like Camaro's either, which this clearly draws from.

I'm normally a customer for this sort of vehicle and even though it's undeniably striking, it's definitely not my style. It does have a ton more personality than the aging Edge and I'm sure they'll put a dent in Edge sales. It is something of a hodgepodge of modern design motifs from the floating roof to the stacked headlights and the wide lower grille. Generally speaking everything works, I really like the belt-line and transition to the low flat hood along with the details in the fascia. The rear is a weak point for sure and the car still looks like a class below the midsize interms of customer targets. To me this looks like a small fun utility and not an adult utility...if that makes any sense. I would rather have an Edge or Jeep Grand Cherokee than something that's trying to hit the "Millennials" so hard. That being said, this is probably the only Chevy crossover I would buy which is saying something.

Technologically nothing here really stands out but besides the AWD system but the Edge will be much more fun, especially the ST.

I agree that if Chevy wants to respond to Wrangler and Bronco, they probably should have saved the name. But it's probably best to see if Ford can crack the Bronco, I have my doubts right now that it might be an exercise in design nostalgia instead of the versatility wonder that is the truly outstanding Wrangler.

The 3.6 RS should match the Edge ST in performance because of the 9-speed and lighter weight, pricing will be a decision factor also.

You're delusional. The Edge ST is tuned by Ford Performance for maximum handling and other tweaks to the engine and transmission sport modes. It also gets the 8 speed version of the GM 9 speed.

But more importantly:

3.6 RS - naturally aspirated - 305 hp, 269 lb/ft

2.7L - twin turbos - 335 hp, 380 lb/ft with peak torque at a lower RPM

That is a HUGE difference in power and performance.
