MKZMark
Hi all, I recently found this forum and thought I'd post here, since my family has owned a LOT of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury products over the years. My Ford backstory is my Dad went to college in the 50s with a guy named Stan Miller, who went on to own Stan Miller Ford of State College PA. So Dad was a pretty loyal F/L/M buyer over the years until his passing in 1997, and he had the $$ to change cars a lot. He had a 911 and an S-class Mercedes but he and my Mom ended up both driving Explorers in the 90s and loved them. Anyhoo, I decided to put together a list of every Ford product my parents, and my wife and I, have owned over the years while I still remember! I had to do some research to figure out the model years based on what I remember as well as old photos. So for those still reading, here's the list: Parent's cars: 1968 Mercury Monterey Wagon 1970 Mercury Cougar XR7 1972 Ford F150 extended cab 5L I-6 1972 Ford Thunderbird 1976 Lincoln Continental Town Car 1976 Ford F150 shortbed 400ci 4spd 1977 Mercury Capri 1977 Lincoln Continental Town Car 1979 Lincoln Versailles 1982 Ford Escort EXP 1983 Ford T-Bird Turbo Coupe 1984 Lincoln Continental 1985 Ford Bronco II 1986 Lincoln Mark VII 1987 Ford Escort GT 1988 Merkur Scorpio 1989 Mercury Topaz 1995 Ford Explorer 1995 Ford Explorer Of these, my favorite was the Cougar (I was too young to drive it). I liked the Capri and the Turbo Coupe. The town cars were vast and the Versailles was the most cushy thing I ever drove. The Scorpio was a cool vehicle as was the Bronco II. The '72 T-Bird was a bloated garish thing and the EXP was pathetic. As to my my Ford history, there are some gaps when we strayed to Volkswagens and a Chrysler: 1978 Ford Fiesta 1978 Ford Taunus (Germany) 1989 Ford Festiva 1990 Ford Taurus Wagon 1991 Ford Escort 2 door 1995 Mercury Mystique LS V6 2002 Mercury Mountaineer V8 AWD 2003 Mercury Marauder 2017 Lincoln MKZ 2.0t 2017 Lincoln MKX 3.7 AWD The Fiesta was a great car for a teenager, and the Taunus was also great for cruising around Germany with it's 2.0L V6 when I was in the Army from 81-84. The Festiva was awful but we had a mortgage and two young kids. The Marauder was fun to own but ultimately I had to get rid of it. The Mountaineer was constantly in the shop but ended up going 240k, every time we put $$ into it we wanted to keep it longer. Flash forward to today and the wife and I couldn't be happier with the Lincolns, I hope they continue to make sedans or I'll have to switch brands!
