akirby
Don’t think anyone would call the Riddler award for custom hot rods “overrated”.
fuzzymoomoo
Overrated in what way? I think hes one of the best custom car designers on the planet. All his designs look the same to me. Same chop, similar overpowering wheel design, same paint job.
fuzzymoomoo
I understand what you're saying about Chip Foose but his work is mostly cosmetic and he did an F-150 a few years ago that Dealers could order through Ford. I'm thinking that it was a Lightning version which is why I mentioned him. What killed it for our dealership was that the option/conversion fee was $10,000+ and it was only available as a 4x2! Like you, I could see Roush doing a version. As for Saleen... Are they still around after the bankruptcy and then the court battle over the name? If not Saleen, Shelby American then. If you're talking about the overhaulin' cars, they only have a week to do those so he can't get into the radical stuff he does in real life. He's a true fabricator, not just a customizer. Of course he has certain designs and themes that he likes but just go look at some his non-overhaulin' award winning cars, especially the Riddler award. fuzzymoomoo
That kind of stuff has never appealed to me. I prefer to keep cars as true to original as possible, at least in the body. Under the hood I have less of a problem with changing a few things Just dont put a small block Chevy in a Ford
NLPRacing
I can live without a Ranger Lightning but can imagine maybe Chip Foose doing a version. I'd rather see Ford do the Ranger Raptor as the Raptor name has developed its own cache. Ugh, no I would rather Roush or Saleen do it. Chip Foose is the most overrated customizer in the industry. Saleen is doing a performance F150: http://saleen.com/2017/10/12/saleen-raises-the-bar-again-for-2018-with-their-700hp-sportruck-and-advanced-performance-mustang-line-up/ Edited April 10, 2018 by NLPRacing
Deanh
Ill stick with a performance model strictly from the factory thankyou....Saleens, Rousch...Fooses all drop quicker than Weinsteins undies auditioning actresses for parts in Boogie Nights
SoonerLS
Just dont put a small block Chevy in a Ford That really grinds my gears. There's nothing worse than seeing a beautiful '32 Ford ruined by a Chebbie motor. It shows a stunning lack of creativity and ability, IMHO.
jniffen
Agreed. From my understanding, the Chevy crate motors are less expensive than the Ford's. If that is not the case, 'Why ya, trada.!"
LSchicago
Keep the Lightning an F150. Use the Tremor name for Ranger. A couple dealers are keeping the Lightning theme alive, but they are not cheap! Beechmont (last link) has the best deal on a 725HP Supercharged RCSB XL Sport. Complete it yourself. http://www.pioneerfordofbremen.com/ford-f-150-lightning-tribute.htm https://www.autonation.com/cars/1FTMF1C51JFA57383 https://www.beechmontford.com/725-horsepower-f-150--37-995.htm
