ToddGak
Does anyone know how much quicker a Navigator ordered with priority 10 will be built vs. an order with priority 19? For reasons I won't go into here, we had to re-order our '18 Navigator and we might be able to get one ordered for Pri 10. The first order (pri 19) was placed on 12/14, built 2/25, and delivered 3/26. I'm curious how much faster a Pri 10 order would be.
akirby
It doesn’t work that way. Priority only matters within the dealer’s allocation. If your vehicle was the only retail (sold) Navigator then it would be the first one built as soon as your dealer gets allocation even if it’s a priority 19 which is the highest for a retail order. Stock orders are 20+. But if yours is a 10 but there are 10 other retail orders that are also priority 10 then yours could be #10 because they go by order date. 10 is the best you can get but it’s not a guarantee there isn’t one ahead of you. You could ask the dealer but there is no way for you to see the other orders.

LHB
So ... order production scheduling is by 1-dealer allocation 2- order priority 3-orderdate within (I assume) assembly resource?
akirby
Yes. If a dealer gets 3 vehicles allocated, they take all the buildable orders from that dealer, rank them by order priority and take the lowest 3. Retail (sold orders) are priority 10-19 and stock is 20-99 so retail orders should always be built before stock orders. Orders with the same priority are built by order date.

As always, akirby's reply is accurate with one minor correction. Orders with the same priority are scheduled, not built, by the order date with the oldest orders being scheduled first.
