Because of the change in tax laws.

MAGA

FCA also plans to give its 60,000 hourly and salaried U.S. employees $2,000 bonuses, the company said Thursday in advance of the North American International Auto Show.

They are adding more work by bringing their Heavy Duty truck production back from Mexico.

yeah so they say now, but walmart/comcast/ etc etc all gave bonus then next day decide to AXE employees

some without even knowing.

something is up fca doesnt just do this for no reason. walmart sams closing 63 stores.   comcast axed 500+

where is the catch on this one? too little info now.

bet they deduct this from profit sharing, or have long layoffs   only temporary!

yup MAGA!

I don't get it. What's the catch? People have $2k in their pocket, people otherwise to have lost their job will be moved to Warren truck and part timers will be made full time?

For shame on FCA! How dare they move profitable work to the USA and pay people more money!

/sarcasm

no i agree i like this, and its good news  just giving credit to trump is kinda far reaching. he was barely involved in this. UAW was also involved even in 2015 of bringing work back. yet they are not even mentioned.  also 2k in their pocket  unlikely.  bonus are taxed and extra so its closer to 1300 or so  even then, what going to happen when this tax bill for us expires in seven years?   corporate is a perm cut  this one time bonus is nothing next to what FCA or any company will get over the next 20 years.  like them giving the whole peanut jar to company and giving us a one peanut.

other then trump signing this tax scam bill what else did he do?  other then bad mouthing everyone(except russia) on twitter?

even republicans deserve more credit then donnie.

Ford will never give employees a non contractual bonus, although they did once so they could give themselves one, but it would be nice for those of you who still own Ford stock if they would do like a few other companies and buy back some shares, like they should have done some time ago.

Regarding the tax cuts expiring, that is why Trump should have passed the "Fair Tax" plan which is often referred to as a national sales tax.  This way it would not expire or be tinkered with every time a new party takes office.

No job losses. Have bumping rights in the same unit. Just like local 600. They are adding jobs at Toledo North.

i read that last night. I dont get why the union is mad. Like pioneer said, if anyone affected doesnt want to come to Detroit they can go build Jeeps. Sounds like theyre bad theyre losing their cushy sit on a hi-lo all day jobs and have to do real work.

What? What happened?

They're mad because instead of driving a truck they will have to go to work in an assembly plant.

Ford closed transportation a long time ago. Chrysler is just catching up.

Well its still an overall cut on jobs tho. Yes they have bunking rights. But. Why eliminate jobs ? And just because someone else does it doesnt mean its justifable. I mean really ? They had to cut somewhere to make up for bounded they gave out just like Comcast / att/ Walmart

Because automakers don't want to be responsible for transporting parts between plants.

It would be like Kohl's employing the driver delivering your online order. That's what UPS, FedEx and the post office do.

Last time we spoke you were going to transfer to local 600. If you did, read the contract. As a tradesperson you don't have a home plant, you have a home local. Depending on seniority you may be moved from one building to the next with manpower adjustments.
