Jaxon Farms
Hello Everyone... I'm new to the forum and I just purchased a 2018 F250 Platinum Diesel. I owned a 2008 Ford for 7 years, the longest I've ever kept a vehicle, I went to the dark side for a couple years (2016 2500 HD Denali. I sure missed my cab room in the ford and a lot of other features so I'm back. My question is - After I drive my truck and park it, sometimes I leave it running for a while if its extremely cold or hot. I've noticed that a pop up comes on the screen and says "your engine is running" and then after several minutes the truck cuts itself off.... Is there a way to override this so that I can be in control of when I want to shut it off? Thank You!!
twintornados
Sounds like Ford has addressed the issue of people forgetting to shut their vehicles off when they park it for an extended period of time. Question for you, does your truck have a push button start as long as the key fob is present?
fordmantpw
This is a "feature" on the new trucks called (I believe) extended idle shutdown. There is a way to disable it (I can't remember off-hand, check the owner's manual), but you have to do it through the options in the gauge cluster every time you start the truck. Welcome back to Ford and welcome to the forums. Enjoy your new truck! I love my 2017!
