blksn8k2
OK, who does everyone think will be in the Wood Brothers #21 after Paul Menard? I can't see Menard being in that car for more than one or two seasons. Money talks but I don't see them having a chance at winning anything other than a plate race with him behind the wheel. My money is on Chase Briscoe, especially considering his ties to Penske/Keselowski and his status as a Ford development driver and the backing the Wood Brothers get from Ford and their Motorcraft brand. Briscoe will be sharing the #60 Xfinity car with Ty Majeski and Austin Cindric for Roush next year and he will also be doing some IMSA and Trans Am races. https://roushyates.com/2017/11/ford-performance-development-driver-chase-briscoe-preparing-run-multiple-race-series-2018/
coupe3w
Would like to Chase Elliott in that car, but I know that will never happen.
blksn8k2
I think most of us old Ford guys would like to see that but the days of brand loyalty among drivers are sadly long gone. Today's NASCAR is no different than any other professional sport. It's all about the Benjamins, baby.
bdegrand
Matt Kenseth to replace Paul Menard in 2018........just kidding! Briscoe or Cindric are reasonable choices. Maybe Menard will surprise everyone....but since Toyota rules the tracks it will be a challenge for follow-up positions against the New Camaro. coupe3w
Is RPM staying with Ford? Do you think Ford will change to Mustangs?
blksn8k2
Nothing new on PRM's website. Of course you already know that Almirola and sponsor Smithfield are moving to the 10 car at SHR and Bubba Wallace will be driving the 43 in 2018, assuming there is a 43 car in 2018. http://richardpettymotorsports.com/news/richard-petty-motorsports-ends-season-in-miami-focusing-on-daytona/ Not sure if there is any truth to this but there was also an earlier report that RPM would not be renewing the lease on their shop for next year and that they might be merging with RCR which I'm sure would not include running Fords. That rumor came out before Almirola and Smithfield left so who knows... https://www.motorsport.com/nascar-cup/news/nascar-richard-petty-motorsports-2018-945503/
blksn8k2
If Ford does switch to the Mustang it won't be for at least another year. It would make more sense in the short term if they put a special nose on the Fusion Sport and got that approved by NASCAR. GM had to do something because the SS went out of production when they pulled out of OZ. Edited December 6, 2017 by blksn8k2
