2019 Lincoln MKX renamed Nautilus

Recommended Posts

Thank goodness the MK naming scheme is gone for good. It was a blow to the brand when it was introduced in 2007. Nautilus is a unique, interesting, and classy-sounding name and fits well with Navigator and Aviator. Will the MKCs replacemt become the Mariner? It fits.

While I would love for the MKZ replacement to be called Zephyr, I would also support a RWD, next gen Mustang based MKZ replacement being named Mark IX...especially if it had a coupe/convertible variant.

As I said in the other thread, I LOVE the name... and the existing vehicles really take well to the new grille.

Makes you wonder why they didn't rename the MKC? Seems kinda odd man out.

Death to MK! Love live names!

I'm guessing like someone else already said, MKC's will be a short changeover, so they figured it wasn't worth the expense of changing names when it's due to change shortly, whereas MKX will last at least 3 years before a redesign.

Lincoln's Web site still shows it as the MKX, so I'm thinking somebody jumped the gun.

Then again, the MKC on the Lincoln home page shows the new schnoz, but the one on the "vehicles" page shows the old one...

They still have to sell the 2018 MKC for a year, so the one on the vehicles page will remain the current one until then.

A few interesting observations:

-the pictured model has the 2.7T still - even if it became the mid-range engine, you'd think they'd want to highlight the 3.0T if it had become available.

-the interior didn't change much - I didn't expect it to. The biggest changes are the Lincoln signal stalks, new steering wheel, and digital gauge cluster.

-the 30-way seats didn't make an appearance - I wonder if they just wouldn't fit?

-the rear lightbar/running light now only has the lower horizontal portion lit up at night (like Navigator). I wonder if this means that the upper red part will now be the brake light, and the clear part an amber turn signal (like it should've been all along)? I'm hoping so.

-I like the new wheels.

-Overall, it seems more worth of a name change than the barely-changed MKC.

My guess is drivetrain update will come one year after exterior refresh. The 9 speed auto implementation seems to have fallen way behind schedule. So they probably decided to save the money and just carryover the 2.7T + 6F35 combo.

I think the refresh looks good. The new front has a much better presence than the old one, and looks more upscale. It works well with the body.

Regarding the 2.7T + 6F35 combo carryover, Ford has historically upgraded powertrains on their trucks following a refresh of an exterior. Perhaps Lincoln will follow this pattern.

I'm not saying this in a bad way, but it has a first-gen Q7 vibe to the front end:

That's a good thought too. Didn't think about that.

If you look at the front cubby, it shows a battery symbol. Does that mean they have wireless charging in the front cubby?? Looks like it to me.

Yup.

Doesn't the 2.7TT use the 6F55?

Hopefully the new transmission comes next year.
