jpd80
I think someone has been terribly misinformed, while the standard Ford PCMs have torque management via transmission and ABS tone wheels on the brakes, the Ford Racing PCM is a much more ridimentary set up that basically just runs the engine in performance applications. Sevensecondsuv
It's unavoidable with a fbw throttle. You have a computer between the gas pedal and throttle plate. That equals torque management. I'm sure it's tuneable, but you still have a computer controlling the throttle based on its perceived input from the driver. akirby
That’s not torque management. Torque management is where the computer limits the amount of torque to protect the transmission, PTU and rear end. It’s necessitated by the other components. With a crate engine there are no other components. If you’re talking about electronic throttle control, the delay is programmable. The only reason there is a delay in production vehicles is for driveability. You can get an aftermarket tune to eliminate the delay. The Ford racing pcm tune won’t have any delay. Sevensecondsuv
Yes I'm fully aware it's tuneable and better than it is on factory trucks and mustangs. But cable throttle is still better. That's why there are $500 cable throttle bodies for the coyote. And guys are snapping up like candy. FBW is for production vehicles, not performance applications. The Ford racing kit uses a FBW throttle because it's like all other Ford Racing stuff: an adaptation of factory parts/systems that offers whatever performance increase they get without it costing them an arm and a leg to engineer stuff from scratch. jpd80
Or more likely that cable throttle suits a lot more applications in having a much more linear feel to the throttle reaction. but really, there's no point in trying to convince people otherwise, if they want a mechanical throttle cable and TPS, then companies are supplying parts to fill that need.....
