Why is it taking so long for the Bronco to come out?

See this is why (and also my fault for) trying to compare other existing vehicles to what we expect from a Bronco

can become very misleading as people tend to take examples too literally.

 

Perhaps we leave it at a more chunky looking SUV styled vehicle that pays respect to past Broncos

while looking completely different to Everest

 

And I was just playing devil's advocate. Someone has to... :stirpot:

To really sum up this question as to why there can only be 1 answer.."ford hates us off road guys"..there i said it..now i will go back to playin in my sandbox with my tonkas..good day

As a Raptor owner, I must respectfully disagree with that statement. Im not aware of any other manufacturer that built a dedicated off-road truck. I think it remains to be seen what the Bronco will be. Nobody really knows At this point.

And the very few people that do are being very tight lipped about it. More so than usual.

I recall Ford saying that MAP wouldn't require a complete gut and rebuild, The standardized build process

now in place with Focus s carried over to Ranger, meaning the work stations are altered but generally

stay in the same or similar locations relative to each other.

people keep telling me they're eliminating door line which makes no sense to me but there's that....

Current Ranger assembly has a door line running alongside the trucs - see around 3:22 on the video

that's not much different than how we currently do it at MAP, except the door line is completely separate from the rest of the trim lines.

 

Apparently they're eliminating that all together

I'm betting that Ford set the MAP line up like other T6 production lines, then that separate door line goes and the doors

get assembled next to the vehicle. That frees up a lot more off line space.with better layout of off line assembly areas.

There is still confusion on whether the door line is staying where it is. Or if it is going in the area of trim line 2. Need to find out. That plant layout print reflects more of what they are doing in the short term. I need to spend a little more time on it. Door line is still in the same spot on it. I think that reflects the new seat overflow/feed line. And bathrroms. Need to see if the new pits are on there. But the one they talked about in the handbill (near the begining of trim line 2) didnt seem to be on print.

The launch team guy on door line told me they're planning on building the short doors for the super cab models on trim 7. I'm confused as to how that's going to work too.

The other pit is apparently already there but covered up and that's in the back behind chassis. That's going to be the beginning of the new frame line.

There is a pit going in out back that is all new (I think the new Trim line 5 is in this mix also not 100%). It is the reason why we have 3 weeks off. Ask a hilo driver who is working that time we are off and you will understand. I already looked at that print and the area at the beginning of trim 2 to the bathroom is the same as it is now on that print. Like I said I plan on studying it more this week and that the print is for short term plans.. But I can easily see where my job is on that print. The door line is there where it is now on that print. I will get the magnifying glass out and sherlock holmes it.

More or less a complete gut job. Edison went from the Escort to the Ranger in 1992-3, which would be similar to what MAP needs to do.

 

The gut job is for changing production models (Focus --> Ranger). It won't be because Ford needs to build RHD Bronco... which was my question... what is involved in making sure the plant can build both LHD and RHD. I don't really think there is any expensive investments required. All the costs involved in a RHD Bronco program will be in design and engineering (most of which already happened because of Ranger and Everest) and getting the suppliers to make plastic molds for RHD dashboard and door trim pieces.

I looked at it on break, it didn't really show what the new construction will look like when completed, just notated the areas where it's going

 

 

I checked again. It is the work slated for the 3 weeks we are off as i previously mentioned. 3 new pits not 2. The place will look a lot different after we get back. And have a number of unfinished projects lol

and I heard today from a reasonably reliable source that the cutoff for coming back in November is 1999
