Harley Lover
Since we are comfortably into November, I started thinking about the LA auto show, and low and behold, found this little nugget: LOS ANGELES, CA (Sept. 7, 2017) – The Los Angeles Auto Show (LA Auto Show®) announced today that more than 50 vehicles will make their debut during AutoMobility LA™ (Nov. 27-30, 2017), the first true trade show for the new transportation sector. This year, global vehicle reveals scheduled for AutoMobility LA include models by leading automakers such as General Motors, INFINITI, Lexus, Lincoln and Toyota. Aviator maybe? https://laautoshow.com/press_releases/50-vehicle-debuts-confirmed-for-2017-la-auto-show/

sullynd
I'm pretty sure I saw a heavily Camo'd MKX in Chicago last week.
rmc523
We've known this for a while, and yes, it's likely to be one of the MKC or MKX refreshes.
jasonj80
The 2019 MKX and Edge are out everywhere. I actually havent seen the camo MKC in a while which makes me wonder if it wasnt just a cooling mule and the new face isnt coming until 2020 with the new model. New MKX next year in summer 2018, MKC early 2019 and Avaiator later in 2019, with the new MKZ 2020?

Well, we've already seen MKC with the new front (spy pics) - not sure why they would put a new face on a vehicle that's going to be redesigned just for testing (in other words, I'm not sure why they would use finished looking parts on an existing model well in advance of its launch). rmc523
Knowing what is going to be in production 3 years from now is like having 2020 vision....... BORG can already see through the camo... So the MKC is getting another refresh and not a new tophat like the upcoming Escape? MKC hasn't had a refresh. I had thought that since it launched 2 years behind Escape, that it was just going to skip a refresh and go straight to a redesign alongside the new Escape for 2020 (I don't know which year Escape will be). But since we've already seen test models with the new grille, it sounds like it'll get the refresh for 2019, and maybe be all new for 2021 (I think it'll be a short refresh). See thats the problem...if the upcoming spy shots of the Escape are any indication, its a larger product and it would be almost like building two different products down the same assembly line. Even though we got the Escape in 2012 as a 2013...the Kuga has been around 2008...making it a dinosaur in the grand scheme of things. So yet again the merger of European products with NA products didn't have proper follow through to keep the proper kadances for updates/replacements on track...sigh
jasonj80
The 2019 MKC is an early launch, at least according to the fleet guide. Few options really: maybe the MKC is going to stick around longer with the facelift and what we think is the next gen is really a new SUV that will be slotted in between the MKC and MKX. The prototype that was seen though could be a cooling mule, has the air intake of the new model as well as Powertrain. Only thing they check for are durability of engine and transmission and to make sure there is adequate airflow. It was like those S-Max when the Edge was coming out. Biggest thing is that they need electrification for China - it is required and required soon, 12% by 2020. If the Aviator is a 2020MY it will be out in 2019, and then be recalled 4 times in 2020. The back seat legroom is too tight. I'm guessing it'll be like Edge/MKX where Edge was a 2015, and MKX was a 2016 - so that you wouldn't be producing both the new and old (of either) at the same time. 2b2
MKC needs to be larger. The back seat legroom is too tight. just-imho, the MKC needs -- to disconnect from the Escape -- get smaller ON THE OUTSIDE (-- of course get an electrifried version) & then intro a completely diff, slightly-bigger, sport CUV to take on the Macan... ...possibly on the U700-series architecture

630land
MKC is a compact SUV, if one wants a large back seat, get a Navigator.
rmc523
MKC is a compact SUV, if one wants a large back seat, get a Navigator. When the competition has more back seat legroom, it's a problem. I'm not saying it needs a massive back seat with recliners. It just needs another inch or two so that people 6'0" + aren't jamming their knees into the front seat. And we've already seen with Escape mules (and by extension....pun intended.... MKC) , it'll get just that. Edited November 7, 2017 by rmc523
