dennis48755
I entered the order & dealer numbers from my order (Limited Max 4x4) placed August 31st. After nothing for the couple weeks I have been checking, it recently came up with a 2018 F-150, including VIN, ordered August 30th. The order & dealer numbers listed on the tracking page are the same as listed on my order summary and the dealership listed is where I ordered my 2018 Expedition. I'm worried this is a sign that something has gone wrong with my order? Dennis

Dlcorbett
What will ford do with the trucks that they built in the first shift where no errors were found(the ones that had to be built before the "ok to sell")? Are they sent to the critics for testing, are they sent dealers for retail?
akirby
They're dealer stock. They'll be inspected, repaired and shipped to dealers.
Dlcorbett
Ahh the "lemons" before the lemonade lol jk, So those will probably be inspected amd shipped most likely within the next 4 weeks im guessing?
Dlcorbett
Also, because these arent dealer ordered, are they shipped out to the dealwrs at random or are they shipped to "fill" a dealers orders(if a dealer orders a specific model, they will ship a like model in its place)? fordmantpw
Every vehicle produced is ordered by a dealer. Ford doesn't just produce a vehicle and ship it out, the dealer has to order it first. The exception is pre-production models which are used for crash testing, media testing, etc.
Dlcorbett
Oh i get it a little bit more now, so how long will ford build the dealer stock orders before retail(customer) orders are built
fordmantpw
Oh i get it a little bit more now, so how long will ford build the dealer stock orders before retail(customer) orders are built As long as it takes to get 5 days with no issues...until the 'OK to Ship' is given. It could be 5 days, it could be 3 months.

akirby
Here is a summary: Job 1 - only orders with priority 20 and higher (dealer stock) are scheduled and built. The 5 day clock starts. Vehicles are inspected as they come off the line. If an error is found the 5 day clock starts over at 0. Once they reach 5 straight days with no errors, the OK to Buy is given. At that point all orders including Retail (priority 10-19) are scheduled and built and shipped immediately. Vehicles that had been held for inspection and repair are inspected and repaired as needed then shipped. From what I've seen and heard, they're just jammed in fields and parking lots and it's typically last in first out depending on how many get held. Dlcorbett
I was under the assumption that the "ok to buy" was given due to an earlier post by mkidd.
akirby
If the ok to buy was given already then it's just the time it takes to get the retail order scheduled and to go from scheduled to being built. I would assume that's a week or two but not 100% sure.
MiddKid
I was under the assumption that the "ok to buy" was given due to an earlier post by mkidd.I'm starting to trust my dealer less and less. His most recent email said the zone manager told him OKTB would be here soon. So much conflicting info.
Dlcorbett
I can see that 2 mkidd, i think the dealer is gooing that the ok to buy happens each week and relaying it to you as fact instead of just waiting for the actual ok to buy from ford
fordmantpw
Keep in mind that a lot of dealers don't really understand this process (why they haven't bothered to educate themselves is beyond me). They may not be lying to you, they just really don't have a clue.
Azgdds
Based on my experience with my Raptor, dealers, managers, fields reps, etc. have no fricking clue about anything until the vehicle actually shows up on the truck. I don't understand why a "tracking" number isn't just given to each order like UPS and we can click and track to our hearts content on a website that gives these "OK to sell" etc. definitions right with your tracking so you have an idea what is going on, but that would be too easy. I am not even bothering talking to my dealer or ford this time, waste of heart ache, it shows up when it shows up.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I agree it shouldn't be that hard to simply translate the info that Ford and dealers already have. No excuse for the dealer not knowing or giving you accurate information though.
HofstraJet
FWIW, I see that the first Navi with a VIN in my area showed up on the Lincoln website: http://shop.lincoln.com/inventory/navigator/details/5LMJJ3HT6JEL00642?zipcode=33071&year=2018&fyear=2018&ownerPACode=11367&fromDetails=true&intcmp=show-si&Radius=100&Order=Distance
Dlcorbett
If you play withthe search inventory setting, you can see which dealers have ordered a truck, and presumabky will be getti g tge truck sooner.
Dlcorbett
Same for the expy. Im guessing that ford is allocating the vehicles that are ready and will sending them to the dealers that ordered them somewhat soon. Unfortunately, no dealer within 200 miles of me is one of those prestigious dealers to get one so soon. There are 2 dates i noticed at the bottom of the window sticker, does anyone know what those dates are for or what they mean for the vehicle.
