Can anyone provide me starting steps on what needs to be removed first to open up the center area to remove the Sync system?  I can't find anything showing the steps and I don't have a shop manual available to show me.  Just wondering what is the first piece to remove, just so I don't break anything.

Try searching on YouTube.

Really!  I wish I thought of that.  If you know of an exact video that would be great.  I just love it when people just plurt out nonsense.

I have a 2016 MKX and I am going to start a Sync 2 to Sync 3 upgrade this weekend.

I don't why you would think that's nonsense?  You can find videos of just about anything on YouTube. If you don't like my suggestion, nobody is forcing you to use it.

Not of this current MKX center console stack trim removal. I spent a half an hour searching on YouTube and closest I found was 4dtech's video on the 2015 MKZ center console stack trim & touchscreen removal.
