danglin
I have been thinking about this since Ford announced the return of Bronco. Anyone think it would be feasible for Ford to make Bronco a brand with several vehicles in the lineup and have a true Jeep competitor? I would like to think the market could support more true off road capable and even more rugged looking Utilities...

PREMiERdrum
'' This. ^^^. I think someone already confirmed Ford was considering making Raptor a sub brand. Raptor is developing as a concept that can apply to other models. For marketing purposes, a brand. For structural purposes, a trim.

I think it can work there though because it wasn't its own unique model. It's a modified trim of an existing model.
twintornados
Here is another thought on the matter - there is no Jeep model called Jeep.....it is Jeep Wrangler, Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Compass, Jeep Renegade....etc etc...following this, it would be a Bronco Bronco?? probowler
Well I for one can't wait to see the Bronco brand expand

Of course not! Like Dodge did with Ram, you could use numerical designations, Bronco B100, B200 etc.

Sevensecondsuv
Only if you had one that didn't have a heavy appetite for head gaskets There's a reason Ford "improved" the 2.9L into the 4.0L. It's a complete drop in swap. Even the 302 is pretty easy. Also the world products heads for the 2.9L solved the issues with that engine. fabfordeb
It helps if the driver is smarter than the vehicle. We have a friend who 4 wheels with his stock Bronco II except for larger tires. He's an outstanding driver and can go many places where our Early Broncos and Rubicon can go. It's amazing what a driver can do.
Sevensecondsuv
Oh yeah. The engine, trans, and axles out of a first gen explorer bolt into a bronco II. Add a locker to the 8.8 rear and some larger tires and it's quite a wheelin machine. Those dana 35 TTB explorer front ends are tough as nails and as close to solid axle performance as you can get without doing the solid axle swap.

Only if you had one that didn't have a heavy appetite for head gaskets Or heads. 160k miles and 4 engines (original, replacement from a wrecked Ranger, 2 remans, the second under warranty), each with a cracked head. It was my first vehicle, and I still miss that little POS!
