bzcat
Finally some real competition for Fusion Sport.
akirby
Finally some real competition for Fusion Sport. Huh? It's 100 lb/ft short compared to the Fusion Sport 2.7LEB.
jpd80
You can get an MKZ Select with 3.0TT for similar money, just sayin'
Fgts
Huh? It's 100 lb/ft short compared to the Fusion Sport 2.7LEB. Maybe so but the JV 9-speed auto is an different animal then the 8-speed unit, not to mention the Regal will be lighter. Motortrend got the 9-speed 2.0 Malibu faster and more efficient then the '16 model w/8-speed. http://www.motortrend.com/cars/chevrolet/malibu/2017/2017-chevrolet-malibu-20t-premier-first-test-review/ The GS should put down similar performance numbers with Fusion sport in a straight line. akirby
A couple extra gears and a few pounds lighter ain't gonna overcome 100 lb/ft of torque.
jpd80
On 91 octane, Fusion Sport ran 0-60 in 5.3 seconds http://www.motortrend.com/cars/ford/fusion/2017/2017-ford-fusion-sport-ecoboost-first-test-review/ Running to 60 mph requires just 5.3 seconds in the Fusion Sport. That makes Ford’s midsizer quicker than the 2017 Honda Accord V-6 we recently tested (5.7 seconds) and a 2015 Toyota Camry XSE (6.1 seconds). Both the Honda and Toyota have naturally aspirated six-cylinders with the Accord making 278 hp and the Camry at 268 hp. And in case you’re wondering, the Fusion Sport will outrun a Mustang with the 2.3-liter I-4 EcoBoost by a full second.
bzcat
Huh? It's 100 lb/ft short compared to the Fusion Sport 2.7LEB. Yea but this is the first non-luxury brand midsize sports sedan since Fusion Sport came out so by default, it is competition. Subaru Legacy, Camry, and Passat still available with big 6 cylinder engines but non are really sporty (at least not credibly so). Fusion Sport is also several thousand dollars cheaper - $33k starting, $37k fully loaded. Regal GS starts at $40k. So yes, I think those two will be cross shopped. They are basically the only two choices in town if you don't want to go the luxury brand route.
akirby
I bet a 2.0L Fusion is just as fast and a lot cheaper. A Fusion sport can be had on the street starting at $28K right now

Fgts
A couple extra gears and a few pounds lighter ain't gonna overcome 100 lb/ft of torque. MT and C/D got the Lacrosse AWD and 3800 Lbs to 60 in 5.8-5.9 and 14.6-14.4 with the 8-speed. A 9-speed and 3500 or so Lbs GS will make up for the power deficit. akirby
Fusion sport is in the 5.1-5.3 range 0-60 and starts at $34K. A V6 Regal GS starts at $40K and there is no way it's faster.

No comparison if adding a tune either...you won't see as big of a improvement tune vs tune on both cars. Turbo Cars have alot more potential to them then a NA car

Turbo Cars have alot more potential to them then a NA car Except in high temperature environments, I've been in new turbo cars that are slower in a heat wave. The GS would fair well against the Fusion Sport with a "classic" n/a motor.

Point taken on the NA vs NA comparison but that's the reason Ford went for 2.7 EB, it's a point of differentiation with competitors and their larger capacity NA V6 engines... In higher temperatures or higher altitudes, the air is less dense meaning that all engines are affected. Forced induction engines are affected to a lesser degree in both of those instances. The V6 Regal is a great car and I don't mean this as a put down but I would love to see a 3.0 TT option.
